Monday is the day I hate the most. We have to go back to school. I hate school with a passion because Michelle always makes it horrible for me. I haven’t told anyone that Alex and I are dating. I didn’t really talk to any of my friends yesterday. I’m still glad that Alex is back at home. He called me last night and told me he was still going to save money. He didn’t give me the reason.
I’m really excited to see Alex. That’s the only reason I enjoy coming to school. As long as I don’t run into that loser Jonathan I will be fine. He hasn’t been coming near me lately. I’m still shocked that he kissed me the other day too. I don’t like him and he doesn’t like me. His words don’t faze me anymore. He knows that. He’s going to try to get under my skin. Michelle is coming back to school today also. I know she likes Alex, but he doesn’t like her. Alex refuses to talk to her or hang out with her. He doesn’t like her because she picks on me. Michelle is evil anyway.
I walk to school through the park today. I don’t want to ride the bus since it’s a really nice day for autumn. I’m thinking a few things over also. I don’t understand why Jonathan and Michelle entered my mind. They are going to stay a couple. Honestly, they deserve each other.
“Hey Aubrey, how are you this morning,” I hear a voice say from behind me. It’s Theresa. I smile really wide at her.
“I’m doing alright. How are you doing,” I ask her. To be honest, I’m in a great mood. I’m trying not to let any emotion show on my face. I don’t want to give anything away. Alex isn’t around right now either. That makes me sad right now.
“I’m doing well. Thank you for asking,” she responds.
“You’re welcome. I really hate Mondays. I feel like a lot of crap is going to go down with the love birds. I don’t really care about them anymore honestly. I won’t let them press my buttons anymore. I will have a change in attitude,” I say with fire burning in my eyes. Theresa starts laughing and I do too.
I think for a couple of minutes before continuing my conversation with Theresa.

Mason walked into my room this morning. He’s smiling pretty wide. He was in a great mood. It’s been a while since he’s been in this happy. “Aubrey isn’t it such a wonderful morning!”
“Yes, it’s a great morning. What’s going on with you today, bud? You seem to be excited about something.”
“No reason,” he said in a sing song voice. He made me laugh. I haven’t heard him do that in a while. He does that when he’s in a good mood. That was a good sign. Maybe, he’s finally going back to normal. I really hope Mace does.
He sat next to me on my bed. Mace gave me a huge hug and kiss on the cheek. I was not used to him giving me kisses. I gave him a hug back and ruffled his hair. He glared at me a little bit. He was getting tired of me messing up his hair. Oh well.
“See you later, sis. I have to get to school early today. I have something really important to take care of,” he said and left. I was happy that he was happy.

Alex meets with Theresa and me over near the school entrance. He kisses me on the cheek and I blush a little bit. I’m still not used to the idea of dating him yet. Theresa looks back and forth between us. She is giving us a suspicious look.
“Hey honey, how’s your morning going,” Alex asks.
“Not too bad,” I say with a smile on my face.
“That’s good. I’m happy I’m living back home now. My dad went to stay with a friend. I’m surprised he even has friends in this town. I’m excited Mom’s getting a divorce. He doesn’t deserve her love. He never showed her respect,” Alex says.
“Are you guys dating,” Theresa responds.
“Yes, we are,” Alex says happily.
“Oh my goodness, I couldn’t wait for you two to get together! You have to be the cutest couple I have ever seen! I’m so glad you two are together,” Theresa exclaims happily. I give her a huge hug. I wonder how my other friends are going to react. I wonder how Jonathan is going to react. I will be finding out pretty soon.
“Thank you. I like being with Alex. I never really expected him to like me. I was his first friend in this school. I could tell him everything without him judging me. He’s the best boyfriend I will probably ever have. Jonathan was just alright when we were dating. Alex is better than him,” I respond and kiss Alex forcefully. He’s a bit shocked. He kisses me back and Theresa just smiles at us.
“I like being with you also, Bre.”
“Wait, why weren’t you living in your own home,” Theresa asks in a confused tone. No one, but I knew what was going on. The mood soured a little bit. Alex is not in the mood to discuss his home life. I understand that.
“That’s nothing for you to be concerned about. Aubrey can tell you what happened, but only if she wants to,” Alex responds coldly. I shoot him a look. He stays quiet, but stands next to me anyway.
“It’s a long story. I don’t really want to explain it right now, but I can tell you another time,” I respond as nicely as possible. I want to make up for Alex’s coldness towards Theresa. I’m not really in the mood to explain what happened yesterday either. I look at the ground. It’s starting to get a little uncomfortable. It isn’t Theresa’s fault. Alex’s cold demeanor is making it rather uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry for asking. I was just worried about you yesterday. I just want to understand what was going on,” Theresa says sadly. I don’t want her to feel sad. I feel bad that Alex is being so cold right now.
“I’m sorry. I don’t mean to make you sad. I don’t want to talk about it right now,” Alex says apologetically. He stalks off after that.
“I’ll tell you now. I don’t want to say it in front of him. His father kicked him out. He told Alex’s mother that he was dead. He’s probably still grouchy because of that,” I respond. I sigh a little bit.
“Oh, that’s horrible! I want to kill his father,” she exclaims. I chuckle a little bit. I want to do the same thing.
“I do too,” I respond with a small smile. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
