Kissing Dereck felt so good, his lips were soft, and he tasted sweet I wanted more but my consciousness slowly slipped away. NO, NO not now I thought, as all went black.

I woke up on a battlefield. Vampires, Zombies and even some creatures that looked like ghouls were fighting against animals. I realized they were shifters and not regular animals. I recognized the polar bear form of Nathan and saw Maya running around healing wounded shifters. It was hell and directly in the middle of it was Luise, she was throwing spells in the direction of my friends and one by one they fell, one by one they died. Nathans body laid in front of me smeared with blood. I screamed and tears flowed from my eyes as I saw the lifeless eyes of my dear comrade.

Shifters tore into the supernatural opponents and slowly her army started to shrink a little . After some searching, I found myself fighting of a vampire with Connor and Dereck by my side. There were both furious and biting their way through to open a passage to Luise. We were face to face with the monster that killed my father and she was just smiling at us. With her hands up high in the sky she muttered some words, that I couldn’t understand and an impulse shot in our direction. In an instant Connor and Dereck were on the ground, motionless and Luises smile vanished as she saw me still standing. >> How is it possible for you to be still alive?

Drenched in sweat I woke up and found myself in my bed, with a pyjama on. Dereck was sleeping on the sofa and I didn’t want to lose any time anymore. “Dereck wake up.”

He shot up and nearly stumbled over the side table “I didn’t see anything, I swear.”

Confused I asked, “What do you mean?” In this moment I realized that he must have been the one to put me into my sleeping clothes. Embarrassed I looked away and decided to let this topic go. There were more important matters to attend to.

“Dereck I had a horrible vision. They all died. You and Connor died and something happened. I don’t know how but I somehow protected the shifters. I developed this power after I saw you and Connor die but I think it was too late. In my vision most of the shifters were already dead and only a few were still fighting. I didn’t see the end, but it looked really bad. There was so much blood and so many friends, who laid there motionless on the ground. Dereck if this is our future, we need to change it the same way my father did with Luise. We need to rewrite the future and make sure that we are prepared. We have to win this war and protect the ones we love. Please help me and please promise me that you won’t die in this battle.” I started crying and Dereck came to my bed.

He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my temple. He gave me the comfort I needed the most, but I wasn’t sure that it was him who I wanted to be held by in this moment. In my vision Connor and Dereck stood by my side and as they both died my heart must have broken down. I just wasn’t sure whom my heart belonged to in the future. Right now, it wasn’t one hundred percent clear for me and the vision showed it to me again. After kissing Dereck I thought I was sure but now after I saw them both die, my heart yelled for both of them again.

I hated the uncertainty of my heart and promised myself in this moment to find out about my feelings soon. I had to decide who I wanted to be with.

 It was three a.m and I decided to hold a meeting with the council and inform them about the vision.

It took them less than ten minutes to answer my call and meet me in the office. Maya wore a cute pink pyjama with ruffles and had her hair in a messy bun. Nathan on the other hand looked refreshed and awake. I stared at him and he shrugged; “I always wake up at three a.m and do a run through the woods.”

His statement made me smile for a moment but then I saw him dying in front of my inner eye, as he did in the vision I had, and my smile faded. My mom joined us, and I started to speak to them about my vision. Talking about Nathans death made him cry and Maya wasn’t able to calm herself down at all. She nearly hyperventilated and we needed to calm her down for ten minutes before I was able to continue. After I was done with telling them what I saw they were speechless and sad.

 “How do we avert this future Alexis? How do we save them all? We can’t let Luise kill thousand humans and if we fight, we will die. What should we do?” asked Maya.

 “I will find a way. I promise. Our priorities are the missions and I will find out more about this power I saw in the vision. I just have to learn how to trigger it before the war starts. Then I will be able to protect you all from Luise’s magic and we will win, without losing lives. You concentrate on your research and Nathan you have to find out the locations. Mom please help them find a connection between the humans and report back to me as soon as you know more.”

They all nodded, and my mom asked:” How are you Alexis? Seeing all this happening must have taken its toll on you. Do you need anything?”

“No mom thank you I don’t need anything, well maybe one thing. Hug me please.”

She did as I asked, and I started crying in her arms.

I felt more and more arms around me and at the end the whole council was hugging me.

“Group hug,” said Maya and I felt a little better. I won’t let anything happen to them. I swear.
