Tell them

Dereck The next days were hard ones, as we told our pack what Alexis had seen. They were all devasted and it took a lot of motivating words to make them feel better. All of the shifters started to do more combat training and the teams worked double shifts. Nobody wanted to feel useless in this situation and all of them tried their best. Even our cook tried out new even more nutritious recipes, which should help our stamina and our strength. I decided that I needed help with Alexis, as she wasn’t coming out of her shell. The vision must have caused her great pain, which put her under even more pressure. “Connor, I need your help. We need to activate her power to block magic somehow, but as we both don’t really understand how it works, I thought maybe you could help with your ability.” “Sure but first I want to tell you something. I have a theory about Alexis powers. We already know about the blood oath right? What if the fact that Alexis is a shifter somehow reinforced the oath and mingled with her natural gifts? She was still in the womb of her mother so still developing her unique gifts, maybe this is how this power was created.” “This would make sense. Sadly, we don’t have any similar case to compare this situation to. We just need to activate the power somehow. Understanding it better might help. Come with me and talk to her about your theory.” He nodded and together we went to the office where Alexis was.  She was lost in her thoughts as we entered the room and I had to clear my throat to get her attention. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?” She jumped up and her face showed the concern she was feeling. “No everything is alright. The teams are working around the clock and tonight we will have another meeting with the council to discuss the progress, which leads me to why we are here. Alexis you haven’t made any progress so far because you are lost. I can see it in your eyes. You don’t know how to tackle the problem with your new powers. That is why I brought Connor with me. He has an interesting theory that he wants to share with you.” “I am all ears.” “Okay Alexis I think that you being a shifter in the stomach of a human who was protected by a blood oath did mingle with your foetus development. The oath somehow became part of your DNA and part of your special gift, which made me believe that you should always have two gifts. The sight, which you have gotten from your father and another one, which was replaced with the power to block magic. The gifts must have developed in your mother’s womb and due to the meddling with the oath your second gift developed that way. This is my theory. What do you think about it?” She did nor answer but the wrinkles on her forehead showed me that she was thinking about the possibility of the theory being true. After some time, she said: “This theory is actually pretty logical. But how does it help me to expand the magic shield?”   “Well I want to enter you mind, which by the way shouldn’t block me out anymore as you now know how to control your wolf and furthermore, we are part of the same pack, remember? Together we will do some meditation and try to provoke a vision. I think first you should be in control of the first gift that you can use already, before we are starting with the second one, that is new to all of us.”   “Sounds like a plan. Let’s not waste any time and start now.” We left the office and made our way to the training’s hall. I knew that she actually only needed Connor for this type of training but after kissing her I didn’t want her to leave my side. I had the feeling that there was something between Connor and her, which made me crazy, but I had to play it cool as Connor was my best friend. They sat down and Connor took her hands. I balled my hands into fists and my inner tiger longed to come out and rip Connors throat out. I was never the jealous type but with Alexis it all felt different. I wanted her to be mine, and mine alone. She blushed because of Connor and I had to leave the hall before I exploded and did something I might have to regret later.  Staring trough, the glass window in the door I could see that they both were holding hands and meditating. I could see her chest move up and down and her breathing slowed down, as she reached an even deeper meditative state. I decided to enter the hall again, I sat on a bench and watched her breathe. It soothed my nerves, but I had to admit that I would have loved to exchange places with Connor in this situation. I just hoped that she liked me more than she liked him and that we would come together someday. I recalled our first kiss and my lips began to tickle a little. Her mouth tasted so sweet it was intoxicating. I wanted more but at the same time I didn’t want to put her under even more pressure. Love was hard. I was in love once but compared to the last time, my feelings towards Alexis felt more intense and even my spiritual animal accepted her as my second half. What would I do if she didn’t choose me? What would happen with Connors and my friendship? I had to admit that it would not be easy but I would try to wish them all the best and support Connor. He never felt in love before and I hoped for him that he would treat her right.   Connor Holding her hands while meditating felt so good. They were warm and soft, and I imagined holding her in my arms. Stop thinking this way about her!  I know that she liked Dereck and he would make her happy. I am not made for love or monogamy.  I realized that I was drifting of and tried to focus on the meditation again. Breathing in deeply I found my inner centre and focused on Alexis mind.
