I hear you

As I bowed my head down something clicked inside of my head and I started to hear voices.

“What was this sizzling noice?” I heard Maya ask.

“I don’t know.”

As I said the words, I realized that I wasn’t hearing only Maya, I heard all the pack members.

The pack link was established. They all looked at me with pride and affection as we talked with each other through the link

My mom stood there on the side of the room and cried. I made my ways to her and snuggled with her. She smiled” I am so proud of you. You will lead them wisely. I am sure of it.”

I wanted my mom to be part of my new life, so I decided to propose an idea to my new pack. “Hey guys, I hope it is okay for you that I want to keep my mom by my side. I want her to stay here and become one of my advisors. I am not able to lead on my own yet so I want some of you to establish an advisory council. This council will have four seats one for my mother and one for Dereck. I want you to choose who you see fit to take the two open seats. What do you think about that?”

“Yes I like the idea”

“Good idea”

“I am nominating Nathan”

“I want to join too”

I heard them all but only paid attention to one voice in my head.

“It is my pleasure to be part of the council. Thank you for your trust Alexis.

I turned to the side and saw Dereck positioning himself to my right side.

My right hand, my tutor and my friend. In this moment I asked myself if it could be more than that.

My heart and mind were so confused, on one hand I had a vision about my future with Connor in bed and on the other hand my heart skipped a beat when I saw Dereck.

“Guys I think we should turn back and celebrate our with our new leader”, Dereck said.

My new shifter family turned to me for approval and as I nodded one by one changed back into their humanoid forms.

Esther a thirty-eight-year-old eagle shifter and the best cook in the world prepared a feast for all of us. There were at least five different dishes with meat, and the smoked beef rolls were my favourite. There were filled with a mushroom cream sauce and served with potatoes.

Connor sat to my left and Dereck sat next to my mom to my right. I was lost in conversations with all the present shifters as a vision hit me full force.

I saw my father standing in front of my mother protectively while Luise yelled at them.

“Leave her alone forever and I will come with you.” “No Andrew, please don’t leave me.”  “Sschh my dear I will stop at nothing to protect you so please let me do this for you”

“I agree” said Luise and Andrew kissed my mom goodbye before leaving with her.

They entered the woods and after some time the faced each other at a clearing.

“ Luise, let us settle the terms.” She looked pretty terrified but stood her ground.

“You will take a blood oath and promise not to harm Irena, and in return I will give you my life. Don’t worry my shifter family doesn’t know about your plan yet and it will stay that way if you agree to my conditions. I will take your secret with me to grave.” As he said those last words his eyes left hers for a moment and he looked directly at me and smiled.

“Okay I agree to your terms.” She held her hands up in the air “ Bound by blood, bound by promises. No harm will come over your mistress” She cut her palm and with the blood she wrote my moms name in the snow.

At first I thought I imagined him looking at me but then I remembered his death and the way he looked at me in his wolf form. He knew I was there, therefore he must know that I am here as well.

“Dad, why did you do this? You should have fought and called for help. Why?”

“ I want to die as a wolf. I want to feel connected to my loved ones one last time Luise. Will you grand me that wish?” She nodded and Andrew transformed into his silver wolf.

“Hello Alexis, you have grown. I was sure to meet you here. Listen to me carefully I don’t have a lot of time. Luise can’t hear me talking to you in my mind but you as my blood can. I left you a letter in the biggest pine tree near your house. It will explain everything to you. I love you and I want you to know that everything I did was for your and your mothers sake. Stay safe my child.”

He then went to Luise, who still carried a huge dagger in her hand. He stood there with pride and held his head high till the end. I watched my father die twice within a few days.

As I woke up, I saw a lot of familiar faces watching me with concern.

“What happened?” asked my mom.

“You were unconscious. Did you have a vision?” asked Dereck.

“I tried to see what you saw but you blocked me out again.” said Connor.
