Chapter Eleven | Electrifying

“I want you and Isikros Kingdom’s forces as an ally of mine as well in an upcoming battle of mine,” sabi ko. “Please.”

Clenching my fist, I looked at him straight in his ruby red eyes. Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Aefos sa sinabi ko, halatang nagulat.

“Oh? What kind of battles? For you to add such condition, aren’t I giving too much in this deal?” aniya.

“With all due respect, I don’t think you are giving too much, your majesty. Then let me ask you as well, your highness. What kind of battles will I be facing?” tanong ko sa kaniya.

“I won’t be able to tell you more details, for now.” Sabi niya sa ‘kin.

I smiled at him and crossed my arms, “So can’t I, your majesty,” sabi ko. “I think our conditions are mutual enough, especially since my entire life relies on this piece of paper,” turo ko sa papel na nasa lamesa at tumingin ulit sa kaniya. Nagtitigan kami ng ilang saglit at sa wakas, he avoided contact.

After that, the quill got closer to my hands, ushering me to hold it. The king lowered his fingers and placed his hands on his chin. I shouldn’t be surprised. Magic’s existence is a convenient, enchanting but also a dangerous element in this world.

I held on to the quill and dipped it in the ink. Carefully putting my signature on top of my name. After signing, I placed it once again on the table and my heart seemed calm but it also seemed to beat faster, quickly multiplying the longer I stayed in this office. Finally. Isn’t it such a blessing that the king himself offered this to me? It is. However, I couldn’t help but be nervous. What will happen to me now?

The electrifying sensation increased and my heart, oh my poor weak heart, couldn’t help but feel heavy after those long agonizing fast heartbeats. I was shocked. Beyond shocked. Hinalikan niya ang kamay ko! Walang iba kundi ang hari ng Isikros! Who wouldn’t be stupefied by that?!

As much as I could, I did my best to look calm and composed, although I am emotionally and mentally struggling, I hope I was physically okay to look at.

Nang mawala na ang hawak niya sa kamay ko, medyo kumalma na ako at parang gumaan na ang ginhawa.

“I’ll see you soon on our training, Lady Asteria. I’ll be sending someone to give you the things you’ll need for our training. Do enjoy your stay here in Isikros. Rest as much as you can right now since you won’t be having any, anytime soon,” he smirked at me and left. When the big ornate doors of his office closed, only Aefos and I were left.

“Wasn’t that nerve wrecking,” nakangiting sabi niya sa ‘kin. I nodded and later on, we left Vasileia Palace, the king’s palace, and again, we took a carriage to get back to Luna Palace.

When I arrived, nakita kong hinihintay ako nila Marriane. I dare say this but indeed, it was a feeling like coming back home.

Luna Palace – the palace provided by Persaeus. The palace where Asteria is currently residing. They are located near his majesty’s palace.

Vasileia Palace – the main palace of Isikros kingdom. It’s where all the previous kings and current king resides hence, it is a historical and sacred place.
