CHAPTER 2
Cory walked in holding a pizza, saying, "I got pepperoni and mushroom. Now I know you don't like mushrooms, but you can pick them...."
Cory looked from Billy to Dimitri, then back to Billy. Taking a deep breath, Cory said, "Billy, I thought we had a dinner date tonight? What the hell is this?"
Setting the pizza on the table, Cory looked at Dimitri saying, “I don't like public displays. Can you give us a minute please?”
Taking Billy's hand, Cory walked Billy into his bedroom, closed, locked the door, and pulled out his phone.
It didn't take long for Cory to start speaking, "911, yes, I would like to report a s****l assault."
Billy walked into the bathroom, knelt at the toilet and started puking. He felt hands still roaming on his body and that nasty bulge pushing into his ass.
Cory handed him a cool cloth, whispering, "Are you okay? Did he..."
Billy shook his head, and quickly replied, "No, but if you hadn't of come here he would have."
"I should go out there and kick that fucker's ass. Who the hell is he?" Cory asked.
Standing up, Billy went to the sink and rinsed his mouth, then answered, "His name is Dimitri Vaag. He is the top selling client of the firm I work for. He also is one of the strongest people I have ever come across."
"Didn't he write Lover's Bite?" Cory asked in shock.
Billy wiped his face and tossed the towel, "Yeah."
Cory picked the towel from the floor, saying, "He used to be one of my favorite authors. He really had a way of describing the life of a vampire that no one else could. The s*x was off the charts. However, I've also thought his work has kind of gone downhill in the past year. His books just haven't seemed the same as his beginning work."
Nodding, Billy replied, "I kind of told him that, and he didn't take it too well. He threatened to leave Romancing the Readers Publishing."
"So what the hell brought him here? If he didn't take things well, shouldn't he want to go to Erik?
He does own the company, after all," Cory said as he put his ear to the door.
"I don't know. It was just as much a shock to me when I opened the door, Cory. I didn't want to let him in, but he said he wanted to talk about a new book he's writing and he had been
rethinking his decision to change publishers. I didn't want to let Erik down," Billy explained.
Cory turned to look at his friend, "Billy, your infatuation with your boss is going to kill you.
First, you work way too many hours without a day off, and now you let a crazy ass into your home in hopes the man will come back to Erik's publishing firm. Stop already."
Billy thought about Erik and felt his insides go all gooey. Those beautiful crystal clear blue eyes and the muscles that moved with such fluidity every time he walked into a room, but the best part was the smell of the man. Erik smelled better than his mom's homemade baked bread.
Billy jerked when the sound of Cory's clicking fingers in his face jarred him out of his reverence,
"Billy snap the f**k out of it. I think the f**k wad is gone and someone is banging on the door."
Billy went to the door and slowly. He jumped back when there was a bang at the door but then quickly relaxed when he heard, "Police! Open up!"
Cory turned to Billy, "Put some fresh clothes on and I'll let the cops in."
Billy grabbed a new pair of pants and shirt, but couldn't stop himself from retaking a shower.
Turning on the water once more, Billy stepped in then suddenly burst into tears. He could feel Dimitri's hands, smell his breath, and hear his voice as Dimitri prepared to take him against his will.
Why would that man think Billy would have agreed to have s*x with him? Billy thought about all their interactions together, but couldn't think of one time he might have said or done something to lead Dimitri on.
Billy didn't know how long he was in there trying to scrub Dimitri's touch from his body. It was Cory pulling the curtain aside that brought him back to the present, realizing the water had long ago turned cold.
"Come on out, sweetie. I have you," Cory said in a husky sad tone.
Billy looked up and saw tears rolling down his friend's cheeks, and asked, "Why are you crying?"
Cory patted Billy down with a towel saying, "Billy, you and I have been friends since damn near birth. I hate that this happened to you and wish there was something I could do to take it away.
So I guess you can say, you hurt I hurt."
Billy felt a need to try and lighten the mood, saying, "You didn't feel that way when I broke my leg."
Cory snorted and wiped his own face with the towel, saying, "That's because you deserved it. I told you not to try and race the go cart down Suicide Hill."
Laughing Billy said, "But I broke the town record."
"You also broke your leg and damn near your neck," Cory laughed.
Billy started dressing, "Are the cops still here?"
"Yes, I gave them my statement, but they need yours."
Biting his lip, Billy made his way into the living room where two officers stood.
"Sir, my name is Officer McCarthy. I know you've been through a lot, but we have to ask you some questions," The policemen said when Billy sat down on his comfy chair.
Bringing his knees to his chest, Billy whispered, "I'm sorry, but I don't want to press charges."
Cory had been bringing a hot cup of coffee to Billy when he stopped, "What the f**k do you mean you don't want to press charges? That f**k wad tried to rape you!"
"Maybe I did something that made him think I wanted his attention, Cory. I don't know, but I can't do this," Billy said softly.
Cory sat the cup down on the table next to Billy, saying, "The only man you have ever tried to get the attention of is Erik. Dimitri tried to rape you, Billy. You have to press charges."
Shaking his head, Billy said, "I can't do that to my firm."
"f**k the firm, Billy! You and I both know this is not about the firm. It's about Erik. Well bull s**t on that too, you need to press charges, before that ass hole tries this on someone else," Cory argued.
Officer McCarthy sighed, "Sir, what Billy is doing is not unusual. I think he needs time to process what took place, and then he will do what he needs to do."
Billy took the card the policeman handed him, saying softly, "This is my card, when you're ready, call me."
Nodding, Billy replied, "Thank you."
Officer McCarthy looked at Cory, "Don't be too hard on him. Right now, he's in shock. What I will do is bag the clothing and I have your part of the story. I will contact Billy in a couple of days and hopefully he will have changed his mind."
Cory snarled, "This is utter bull s**t!"
"Cory please let it go," Billy rasped.
Officer McCarthy knelt down and looked in Billy's watery eyes, "I would like to also take some pictures of any marks he may have left. It's just in case you change your mind."
Billy reluctantly nodded.
Officer McCarthy took pictures of the hand prints on his hips, where Dimitri had grabbed him and pulled Billy's ass closer to him. Also, there were bruises on the back of Billy's neck, from when Dimitri had slammed him face first into the table.
"Okay, we're all done here. Again, if you change your mind, please call me," Officer McCarthy said as he started for the door.
Billy opened the door, thanking him, when the man gave him a compassionate look, saying, "I have been doing this for years, sir. I want you to know this. No means no. Rape is about power, not s*x. There is no saying something that gave a wrong message. It is their issues in life that cause them to attempt or do something like this. So please, think about it, because your friend is right. If he tried this with you, who is to say he hasn't done this before or will do it again to someone else."
Billy drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, saying quietly, "I'll think about it."
Turning around, Cory sat there looking pissed more than Billy had ever seen him before.
Billy started to say, "Cory, I..."
Cory stood up and placed his hand open, stopping Billy from saying anything further, "You and I have been friends a long time, Billy. You and I may not have had the same parents, but I practically lived in your home since I was six."
Hearing the disappointment in Cory, Billy opened his mouth to explain, but Cory stood up, "No, let me finish, I watched you face down bullies since the day you said the quarterback was hot, out loud, during the sixth-grade super bowl. Never once did you back down. Now this guy...this monster, attacks and almost rapes you and you hide away within yourself. It makes no sense to me, Billy."
"His eyes turned red," Billy whispered.
Cory looked completely confused.
Billy slowly walked towards Cory, saying, "I've played that moment in my mind over and over again. Dimitri's eyes turned red and I think I saw fangs."
Cory's look changed from confusion to disbelief, "What the hell are you talking about?"
Billy sat down and placed his hands over his face, sighed, then said, "I only got a look for a second, but Cory, I'm...."
"Delusional," Cory replied as he knelt in front of Billy, "Look, you've just been through a really traumatic experience. Times of high stress can cause us to see things different then they really are. Maybe Officer McCarthy is right. You just need some time," Cory said gently.
Letting out a tired sigh, Billy nodded, "Yeah, maybe. I am really f*****g tired."
"Okay, pack a bag," Cory said as he stood back up and smacked his hands together.
Billy raised a brow, "Why?"
Cory gave a sarcastic laugh, "You honestly think I'm just going to leave your ass here after that f**k tried to rape you? Billy, for once, don't argue. Pack a bag and we go to my place."
"I'm only doing this because I'm too tired to argue," Billy said as he made his way to his room.
Walking past the table, next to the door, Billy noticed Cory's manuscript missing. He could have sworn that he put it there.
"Come on, we need to get a move on. The night is not getting any younger," Cory yelled out.
Not in the mood to hear Cory b***h that he lost his manuscript, Billy went into his room to pack his bag, figuring that with everything that happened, he must have just set it somewhere else.
Thankful he had scanned the damn thing before taking his first shower.
"So are you going to at least tell Erik about Dimitri?" Cory asked when they were leaving.
Sighing heavily, Billy asked, "Can we just not talk about it for a while, Cory?"
Cory nodded, "Fine. So what did you think of my book?"
Billy sighed, muttering, "Well shit."
