HANSEL… Two days later. I was in the slave quarters, dressing up for the day's work, when I inhaled a stench smell of blood. I sniffed repeatedly, glancing at the faces in the room, but neither of them seemed to have perceived the smell. The smell became so strong in seconds that I had to cross my index finger under my nostrils and turn around to begin leaving the slave room.
