HANSEL… Everywhere was serene like a graveyard. I peeped through my fingers and couldn't even feel that weird energy again, then I quickly let go of my face. I looked around the corner but saw no one, and I stood up. Where could they be? He really acted at the right time or I would be dead just now. I was scared of leaving that spot, because I knew he would come for me regardless. But when I heard the loud cry of a man, I began following the sound. It was when that foul smell hit my nostrils again that I turned to my left to see the man struggling to get a rope out of his neck. I saw the Prince seated in whatever he placed there that I couldn't see, but he was so comfortable like he was seated on his couch. As I reached closer, he turned to look at me. “Want to sit? We could watch him for some time.” he said, with some soft smiles across his face. I nodded and reached closer. “Sit here.” Truth be told, I was scared, because I wasn't seeing anything like a chair there. “You won't fall,” he added, as though he read the fear in me. I sat beside him, and surprisingly, it was comfortable like a couch. I released a relieved breath, my eyes fixated on the demon that kept fighting to release himself, whereas I was thinking deeply about the prince. ‘Who exactly is he? I can't believe he's a mortal.’ “Of course, I'm not fully a mortal. I'm a demigod, a divine mortal,” he said to me with a glance. My heart skipped. He was listening to my mind again. I tried to hide the voice in me and thought, ‘How will I make him stop hearing my mind?’ “Unless you're my mate, I will always hear you,” he said again and I stood up from beside him. “What? Even my mother hears everyone's mind except mine, my father's, and Lord Lucien's. So, do you think it's a crime? Just don't think wherever you are or I'll hear your thoughts.” Lord Lucien? Who was that? “Aldric's father,” he said to me again and I couldn't help but clench my fist. “But, you can just stop yourself from listening to others. You're invading my privacy.” I lashed out and scowled. So, everything that I've thought, he knows about them? He shook his head, “Like I said, if you're not a divine mortal or my mate, I would listen to your thoughts. That's why I am a demigod. If I lose that ability, how will I protect the earth? Even though I don't care about you people any longer.” he hissed and stood up, his hands clamped backwards. “You think it's fun when you have a lot of responsibilities on this earth? Aldric is so lucky. He really escaped being a divine mortal.” I refused to think again but only watched. It was so annoying that one won't have a secret beside him. No wonder it doesn't take time for him and Lord Aldric to find solutions to things so easily, because he hears what people think. He should also know what those officials are after while targeting him. I was lost in thoughts that I didn't know when he left my side and went to that demon. He pressed his neck and the immortal screamed so loud I felt the ground shake. “We already had too much fun. I don't have as much time as you think.” the prince uttered and commanded a knife into his palms. I reached closer and watched him stab the chest of the demon. He pulled out the knife again and dipped it deeper and harder again, while black blood spilled all over. “What's that?” I blinked, my lips widened in shock as I watched the demon piece like gravel and vanish into thin air. “Is that how they die?” He nodded, “That's how I'll die too. I'll only disappear and you won't see my corpse.” I shook my head and reached out to his hand. I just didn't know why, but hearing him say that made my chest hurt. “Please don't die. Don't disappear.” He closed the distance between us and rubbed his palm on my hair. “Why are you the first to sincerely feel bad that I mentioned my disappearance? Aldric doesn't want that either, but he would have no choice if it happened. But you, would you join me if I died? You want to cry? I am two thousand, five hundred years old, and I'm not dying soon. My father is over four thousand years old even when he isn't a divine mortal, so you could see how far I still have to go.” I suddenly felt light, like a burden was raised from my shoulders. “If you're a lycan, you're liable to live thousands of years, unless you're killed. Werewolves have finally adapted that gift too,” he added and kissed my forehead. “Let's trek to the palace. No one will see us.” I chuckled and followed him side by side. It was really fun passing by hunters and they didn't get to see us. We reached the palace and he first led me into my room before leaving, but I couldn't even sleep. If I recalled the demon trying to hurt me, and how he died, I would grip the duvet so tight to my body. Until dawn, I was awake. But I hated that I had to sleep off that morning, and surprisingly, no one came knocking on my door. … In two weeks’ time…. An order came from the Luna Queen that I was to show up in her chamber in a few minutes. With fear making me quiver, I left my chamber so early that morning to know why she called. I was scared something had happened and it had to do with me, and at the same time praying that it wasn't about my chamber. What if the princess reported to her about the cotton pad in my chamber that she didn't talk about that day? Then I would be roasted finally, because the prince had already made it clear that he wouldn't take my side if my gender was finally exposed. I arrived before her and bowed respectfully, “Your majesty,” “Strip!!” she ordered and stood to her feet. My body hair stood. I felt my soul leave my body. “You heard me, young man. There's nothing you can hide from me. If you don't strip yourself, I'll do that for you.” she said bluntly, her eyes burning in fury. That made me recall what the prince also said about his mother and I had no other choice but to begin stripping my robes. My heart throbbed against my ribcage. I prayed to the gods to come to my aid because this could be the last time I would stay with the prince. If I had known this was going to be it, I would have just told him before heading over here. As it stood, he wasn't aware and there was no way I could reach him. Even if he did know, he won't come to my aid since this had to do with his mother and maybe, my gender being revealed finally.
