Chapter 6 Why Was He Here?

784 Words
Rita's shouting was loud. She thought this would make Emma give in. But Emma had no intention of compromising. She even tightened her grip to drag Rita out of the office. However, Rita wasn't going to let her succeed easily. She roughly shook off Emma's hand and pointed at her nose to curse. "Emma, if you push me any further, I'll spill all your dirty secrets!" Emma found it ridiculous. But if she didn't clarify things, her colleagues would probably just have more gossip to talk about. So, Emma decided to let Rita explain herself. "I'd love to know what dirty secrets I have." She stared coldly at Rita. Rita didn't expect her to be so assertive. She rolled her eyes and quickly came up with a plan. "You stole 200 thousand dollars from your father to support a man! And besides... you... Oh, that's right! You even seduced your student's father!" Rita shrieked. As soon as she finished speaking, the people around her started to gossip. This was truly shocking news! Emma's face turned black instantly. "That was all done by her daughter, Stella, whether it was stealing money or keeping a man! And I didn't seduce any student's father!" But Rita revealed a triumphant smile. "Who would believe you? No matter what, you must pay Stella's tuition for Eleanora Girls' Academy! Otherwise, I'll make your life a living hell!" Emma couldn't believe her ears. "Is that why you set me up and even sold me?" Just to send her stupid stepsister to a private school? Damn! She didn't even have enough high school credits! "Say whatever you want, but you'll never get a penny from me!" Emma turned and prepared to leave. Seeing the people around gossiping, Rita didn't expect Emma would still stand her ground. She chose a spot near the window and quickly walked over. "Fine, if you refuse, I'll jump out of this building!" Rita dramatically grabbed the window frame, and a nearby colleague quickly grabbed her hand, turning to scold Emma. "Emma, why can't you settle your family affairs privately? Don't bring it to the company," Understanding she was being framed, Emma was about to speak when Ricky spoke up. "Enough, Emma, this is a workplace, not your battleground. Take your mother away, and from tomorrow... no, from now on, you don't need to come anymore." What? Ricky was firing her? "Mr. Bryan, this isn't my fault. She's lying..." Emma followed Ricky, explaining anxiously, but he blocked her outside the office door. "Emma, whether your mother is lying or not, what you did has negatively impacted the company. What do you expect me to do, explain to each client that everything she said is false?" Ricky pointed to the door, and Emma noticed several clients standing at the entrance. Their expressions were already filled with disdain. Apparently, they were judging the moral standards of Hope Education's teachers. Emma's face turned pale, but she couldn't lose her composure. She had to fight for her one last chance. "Mr. Bryan, please give me a chance to explain the truth. I can't lose my job over this." She stepped forward excitedly, but Ricky refused to accept any further explanations. "Come on, Ms. Foster. My job is on the line because of you. Leave before I lose my temper! I don't care about your family drama." Before Emma could react, Ricky had already called security. The guards grabbed Emma's arms, preparing to escort her out when a stern voice interrupted. "How dare you do this to her?" Emma and Ricky simultaneously turned towards the voice and saw Ethan stride in with his assistant. Why was he here? Seeing Ethan, Emma was shocked. Ethan also looked at her, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, obviously displeased. Shoot! Had he heard Rita's nonsense? Ricky was even more excited than Emma. This man was his VIP client whose deal could cover half a year's performance. He put on a fawning smile, preparing to welcome the distinguished guest, but Rita rushed forward first. "Look! It's him! I saw Emma get into this man's car last night!" Rita grabbed Ethan's sleeve tightly, afraid he would escape. She held up her phone, displaying a photo. In the dim light, Emma was shown falling into a man's arms. Indeed, the man in the photo was Ethan. Seeing this, the crowd around them started gossiping again. Rita held up the photo, showing it around. "Did you see it? Look!" "This woman is so shameless!" "She's married and still seducing other men! How can she be a teacher? Is she going to teach the kids her flirty tricks?" Rita's sharp voice successfully annoyed Ethan. He frowned deeply and looked at the crazy woman.
