When Worlds Collide

Chapter 9

~Roxanna~

I'm in a night club, on stage, like every night, performing. It's the best way to get clients, you get them jumping around, get their adrenalin pumping then when you're done, after seeing how amazing I am after performing high they all come or I go to them and boom...you have more clients, more clients mean more money more money mean a happier boss which is what I aim for. To be honest, when I think about it, I can't ever remember performing sober. I say to myself "Man I'm high, got good stuff running through me now, and even more good stuff to sell out to everyone, anyway" out loud on the mic as I keep the crowd going I say "I'm Anna Xor and I'll be entertainin you all night. Now, who's ready to PARTY?!" the crowd cheers so loud, I can't even fully focus as I hear the crowd, yes they're that loud even I can hear them.

I'm sitting at my desk still looking through the case file.....yes still it's freaking huge, I look at the clock and say " finally home time, looks pretty dark out there" when I see the time. I grab my things together, getting ready to leave, once I've got all my stuff sorted I head out and on my way home.

I walk by a night club, and I pause. It's so loud, I can't even imagine what it's like in there, I shake my head as I say to myself "so much illegal stuff, wish I was back to the days of busting people in night clubs, wish I never had this case" as I remember exactly what I have to start working on tomorrow. Just then a young woman looks to be in her early 20s comes stumbling out the club, she was obviously either really drunk or really high, one or the other. She looks at me and says "well hello officer, damn if I was straight I'd totes be into you, you could make a straight man gay", slightly caught off guard with that comment I say to her sternly "you have clearly had too much of whatever you've took, I suggest you go home immediately, that type of behaviour will get you arrested" , I just had a long shift, I wanted to get home. "Oh you look a lil stressed, I was just heading back in to meet my fave girl, she gives what ya need to feel good" the clearly intoxicated woman said, I really didn't want no more work so I gave her another warning "I suggest you leave, and go wherever you live or I will have to arrest you" before her or I could say anything else we're interrupted by Roxanna, "yo C, what's takin ya so long? Who ya harrassin now? Come back in and have fun, leave 'em alone" I heard her say, I looked straight at her in pure shock and I'm sure she seen me too by her reaction.

I'm in the club dancing amongst everyone else while doing business when I realise Carrie has been gone for ages, 'better check she's not in any danger' I think to myself, you see, Carrie is apart of my gang, she's good for distractions so I kinda need her in 1 piece,  so I go to look for her outside.

"Yo C, what's takin ya so long? Who ya harassing now? Come back in and have fun, leave 'em alone" I call out as I walk outside, I look up and that's when I seen him. My ex-best friend, my mortal enemy in a police uniform. He was shocked to see me, I could tell by his expression "Roxanna?" I freeze for a split second, "oh no, crap" I say as I turn around and run back into the night club, I run through the crowd. As I look behind me I see Tobias following me, so I run into the female toilets, I know he wouldn't come in because he needs a warrant and I highly doubt he has 1.

~Joey~

I'm talking with Toby, another member of the skulls when I see our leader Roxanna run through the crowd, she doesn't usually run in the night club, we only see her running of a day when she's in a hurry. I turn to Toby who was drinking some beer "what's got our girl running there?" Toby isn't the brightest and probably the most chill out us all, "the hell if I know, probably that policeman" he answers pointing to a police man. I never understand how he's so chill but I couldn't be bothered having crap happen tonight "I would help, but I can't be bothered getting arrested tonight" I said as I realised that Toby was right when he said there was a policeman, "You and me both man, you and me both" Toby agreed. Don't get me wrong we don't want nothing to happen to our leader, but she can handle herself and neither of us wanted to be arrested tonight.

I run into the female toilets and locked myself in a stall, I was caught off guard by it all. I was so frustrated, "the feck he playin at? What was Carrie talkin to him over? He better be goin to a fancy dress party and not be a real cop, I mean after all, he is the reason I got arrested. Freakin rat, can't stand him" I said as I remembered the day I found out he told on me.

FLASHBACK

I'm 11 years old and behind bars, gotta say I never saw this coming. Tobias being a great best friend...at least that's what I thought...came to see me at least twice a week, that was until I found out he was the reason I'm in this hell hole. We both sit down facing each other and he said sympathetically "hey Ann, how you holding up?" "Could be worse I guess, could be a grown up in state pen, anyway how are you?" I asked, although I couldn't feel emotions I was thankful that he always visited me, Tobias was my only visitor. "I've been great, your mom wanted me to tell you she'll be up to see you in 2 weeks, she took all this very hard" he replied " yeah, guess I can't blame her. She practically lost 2 kids in a matter of months. Gotta say, coppers were quick to figure out I done it" I didn't feel sod all over it except I  missed my mom and Elliot. "Why did you do it? Why do something this stupid?" Tobias asked like he was disappointed, I mean, excuse me? Stupid? How is getting revenge stupid? why did he burst out with that comment? I just shake it off and simply answer "why didn't you?" My tactic to avoid going in deep in conversations is to answer a question with a question,  usually it works. "Don't start that 1 Ann, seriously, do you not have any remorse at all?" he asked almost a mix of shock, and disgust.....I did say usually, usually it works, guess not this time. I'm not moved like at all, not bothered, I served my own justice for Elliot, that's all that mattered. "Nope, no remorse or regret, closest to regret I got is I never done it sooner" is my answer to his question, shocked at my answer he carries on "you can't be serious, surely you can't be serious?" "I am, I just miss playing with you" I reply casual, I was serious about the no remorse or regret, and I guess I kinda do miss playing with Tobias, kept me in shape outside of school. "You've been given 10 years Roxanna, 10 years!" he says like his mind has been blown, I don't see why though, I have a plan to be out sooner than what I've been given though. "I won't be here for that long, I'll be out sooner" I try to reassure him, but of course it doesn't work "How? You've had a zero chance of parole put on your sentence", I try to convince him "trust me, I'll be out sooner rather than later" the expression changes from shock to complete disbelief. "Can't believe it, you KILLED your dad in cold blood, COLD BLOOD ANN!" he starts to raise his voice, but of course I had to be the sarcastic b***h I am "say it louder, don't think the guards outside heard ya" I say with a slight smirk. Tobias is now looking more serious than I've ever says in a very serious tone "this is serious, can't believe what you've become in here. The Roxanna I know, is no longer there" I don't know what he's on about, this is me, he knew the fake side of me, but since I'm in hell I might as well be me, "tough" is all I say back. I never expected what he said next to be said, "I didn't want to believe it, but I guess it's true. I can't believe I felt guilty over this, guess I shouldn't" I start getting both curious and suspicious at what he said just then, what did he mean? I have to find out. "Guilty? Guilty of what?" I really wish I never asked as I got my answer, "I reported the murder of you're dad" .
