CHAPTER 3

Sophia's point of view: The next morning, I arrived at his Mansion. My mouth dropped slightly at the sight of it. I can't believe someone can afford a place like this. It looked more like a Palace, very large and big. And the guards standing outside only made it look royal. "ID?" The man with brown hair and black shades asked. "Uhm, I don't have any, I'm Sophia Thompson, Mr. Blackwood asked me to come here," I replied with a smile. "No ID, then leave," he said rudely, making my mouth drop again. "That's rude, you can just call him and ask, I can't just leave after coming all the way here," I said with a sigh. "Then give me your ID madman," he said again. "Can't you just call him to verify it?" The guard raised an eyebrow, then nodded curtly. "Fine. I'll call him." He said. He stepped aside, phone in hand, and I waited anxiously for the outcome. The second felt like hours as I stood there, trying to ignore the curious looks of passersby. Finally, the guard returned, and his expression softened slightly. "Mr. Blackwood will see you now," he said, opening the gate. I walked up the winding path leading to the front door. My heart was pounding with a mix of excitement and nerves. The door opened before I could knock, revealing a tall man with a stern yet welcoming demeanor. "Sophia, welcome," Mr. Blackwood said, extending his hand. "I apologize for the inconvenience at the gate." "It's fine, really," I said, shaking his hand. "Your home is… Impressive." "Thank you," he replied. "Come in." As I stepped inside, I was struck by the opulence of the interior. Every detail, from the marble floors to the grand staircase, spoke of wealth and taste. Mr. Blackwood led me to a cozy sitting room with large windows that overlooked a beautifully manicured garden. "Please, have a seat," he said, gesturing to an elegant sofa. I sat down, trying to take it all in without appearing too awestruck. That's when I noticed a picture on the mantelpiece. It was a photograph of Mr. Blackwood with a young boy and a woman. I sat down, trying to take it all in without appearing too awestruck. They all looked happy and Mr. Blackwood was smiling- a rare sight, I imagined. When he noticed my staring, he picked up the picture and placed it under some papers on his desk, as if shielding it from further scrutiny. "Now," he said, changing the subject. "Let's discuss why you're here." The rest of the meeting was productive, if not a bit formal. ...................... But just as the meeting was about to end. The door opened loudly with a bang, making me jump up from my seat. "Daddy, I'm back from school!" I heard a little boy say, then footsteps rushed towards us. Titling my head to the side, I took a quick look at Mr. Blackwood, only to see his eyes on me. "Dad?" The boy called out again, probably wondering why he hadn't gotten a response yet. "In here Jack!" Mr. Blackwood replied, still staring at me. Raising my eyebrows, I was about to ask what I had done. But the door opened with another bang. "Daddy!" The boy yelled happily, then ran towards Asher's body. Daddy? Does he have a son? I asked myself before looking away. "Who's she, and wow, she's pretty, is she mommy?" The boy asked, making me look at him with wide eyes. Then quickly look at Mr. Blackwood. "No Jake, she's one of my workers, who is just leaving, right Miss Sophia?!" Blackwood said with a frown. Nodding my head, I stood up from the chair, while grabbing my bag. "Your name is Sophia, like princess Sophia," His adorable son asks. Oh my goodness, he's so cute! Letting out a chuckle, I nodded my head. "Yes, I'm Princess Sophia, and you must be?" I asked softly with a smile. "Just Jack, I don't think I'm a prince in cartoons" he mumbled softly with a frown. "You are still your Daddy's prince, you have your own Palace," I said quietly. Jack's frown turned into a smile as he looked up at his father, who was watching the interaction with a mix of amusement and tenderness. "Daddy, can Princess Sophia come over for dinner please!" Jack pleaded. His eyes were wide with excitement. I felt a rush of surprise at the invitation, glancing uncertainty at Mr. Blackwood for his response. Mr. Blackwood hesitated for a moment, exchanging a meaningful glance with me before answering. "Of course, Jack. Sophia, would you like to join us for dinner tonight?" He asked me. Making my eyes wide out before nodding my head. If anything, I wanted to make Jack cry and make Mr. Blackwood fired me for making his kid cry. "Yay!" Jack yelled happily, then jumped off his Father's lap and rushed towards the door. "As soon as you are done with this dinner, I want you out of my house and if you dare tell anyone about my son, you can kiss your job and life goodbye," Mr. Blackwood said before standing up. With a glance, and scold, I watched him walk away. Leaving me alone and confused. "I feel like this man has periods, because why would someone say that without blinking his eyes" I said to myself before shaking my head. "I could just exist before anyone noticed, right?" I asked myself quietly, then grabbed my bag and made a beeline towards the main door. When I noticed no one was around, I quickly rushed towards my car, while using my left hand to search for my keys. But just as she was about to leave, she caught a glimpse of movement from the corner of her eye. Turning slowly, she saw Mr. Blackwood was standing in the doorway, a stern expression etched on his face, with a crying jack on his hips. Their eyes met, and for a moment, I felt a surge of guilt and uncertainty was over me. Before I could utter a word, Mr. Blackwood's gaze hardened, and he silently motioned for me to leave. Guess I just lost my job.
