On a cool winter night",the stars shone bright in the skies. It was snowing heavily that night and the sound from the cool breeze could be heard.Alexa was in labour, the last words she heard were "push harder my Lady" and the cry of her baby. It's a baby girl, said the midwife, before Alexa gently closed her eyes and passed out. "My lady,my lady" said the midwife but to no avail. Alexa has kicked the bucket. Derek,was outside resting on the wall, waiting impatiently to hear the good news about his wife's safe delivery. As he looked toward the labour room, he noticed the door opening and the midwife coming out of the door carrying a baby wrapped in white fur cloth. "Ohh, it is the midwife. " he said moving towards the door. "How is she? can i go in and see her?" With a sad look on her face she replied "My lady has passed on.Derek was shattered by the news of Alexa's death,he knelt down and wept bitterly.The midwife said "I'm sorry for your loss". "It's a baby girl"she said.poor child she just lost her mother to the cold hand of death.the midwife handing his baby over to him "Thank you" derek replied.He looked at her,and she smiled at him.Her eyes were as clear as crystal,and the shone bright like the stars, each strand of her hair were black,silky and long.Her fingers where long and slender.she indeed resembles Alexa. I'll call you" Elena" Derek said in tears,Alexa and i waited patiently for your arrival. She could not wait to see your face.(he paused)but she's no longer here to finallly see you.I'm sorry your mother left us behind,but I'll be the best Father and make you proud of me my child .I love you.(He kissed her on the forehead) (Light fades) It's been 15 years since the death of Alexa.Derek owned a small stall in the outcast of the capital city of Juka.he lived a quiet and peaceful life with Elena,after the death of his beloved Alexa. Elena was Looking forward to it,Because she gets to see how beautiful the Famous Night Market looks like during the festival. She also excited about different performances from the villagers and most of all the beautiful scenery of the full moon while sitting on the rooftop. On the night of the festival of the moon goddess,every family is expected to bring an offering to the moon goddess in appreciation and also asking for blessings for more prosperous years ahead. The locals were taking turns in bring their offering.It was Elena and her father's turn to present their offering to the goddess.But something strange occurred. The candle light presented on the alter suddenly fell off.Everyone was stunned The Villagers started whispering to one another."such thing never happened before."A man from the crowd said,"This is a bad Omen,such thing has never happen before"could this be a warning from the goddess? It raised an arguement between the local.To stop the argument,Derek cleared his throat and said "Lets continue Everyone"we are gathered here today to seek her blessings and ask for more fruitful years ahead.This should not stop us from performing the ritual Crowd:yes lets continue. (Dreke cleared his throat once again saying) We pray this year will be prosperous and we will live to celebrate this festival next coming year. Vilagers chorused:Hear us oh Goddess and bless us. After the offering,different performances were been carried out by the locals,sound of drummers where been heard all night,Merriment,display of fireworks and other Nightlife activities were been carried out. Elena said" father lets go visit the famous Night Market",she said in excitement with a smile on her face.derek responded Okay,"let's hurry or you will miss the Legendary Phoneix Firework" The laughed happily as the headed to the night market. (After the celebration,the sound of drums could still be heard from afar,the sound from the cool breeze could be heard clearly,chimes from smoke could be seen from afar,the sky was filled with fireflies, It was indeeed a Blissful night. Elena and derek were sitting on the rooftop admiring the Full moon,when Elena asked Derek) Father, why don't I have a mother like other kids?(Derek Looked at her in suprise)and aked her "Who said that"? Elena replied: Other kids at the academy and the often make fun of me for not have a mother like them.And you've never told me anything about her.So do i have a mother?(Looking straight into Derek's eyes curious to know what his reply would be.) (Derek was silence for a while,before he said)Elena,you have a mother.But she passed on after your birth.your mother is called Alexa , she was the prettiest woman I've ever seen,her eyes were as clear as yours her fingers were long and slender,she had the brightest smile ever.You remind me so much about her(he said almost in tears)but she passed away after your birth and now she is a star up in the sky watching over us.(he smiled still hold up his tears) Elena hugged derek saying "I'm sorry i brought up your past".Derek replied "No don't be sorry,"I'm sorry i didn't tell you about her all these years and talking about her made me emotional he said in tears. Elena:Papa!This is the first time I'm seeing you cry.You must miss her alot? Derek replied "I do" Elena:it's okay you have me here with you. I'll never let you go.she said with a broad smile on her face. Papa!tell me about how she became a star. Derek laughed out loud Elena:Why are you laughing,stop laughing and tell me please papa.(derek replied with laughter and tears on his face) I'm sorry But that was hilarious.(he paused for a while) So when our loved ones die, the become stars watching over us. So someday when i die,I'll be up above the sky protecting you. "Papa don't say that"said Elena,you will be with me forever right?(derek replied) Yes I'll be with you Forever Elena:Promise? Derek replied "Yes i promise you" Elena smiled and said"I love you papa" Derek replied" I love you too"my child.
