CAMILLA
"You are the cure."
My mouth came open again and this time I tried not to overreact. I had done enough drama today and I cared about my health.
"What do you mean by me being the cure? Do you realize what you're saying?" I demanded.
They all nodded in response. Liam decided to take over the explanations from where his brother left off.
"I don't know how much you know about the supernatural world, seeing as you're human. . ." he trailed as he stared at me. My glare did not change so he decided to continue.
"At the age of twenty one, every werewolf wolfs out and reveals their inner self," Liam explained.
He paused to be sure I was still following. My eyes remained on him and I guessed it was enough encouragement to continue.
Lucas folded his arms as he listened. I could not tell if he was going to contribute to anything or just sit there and keep looking for ways to terrify me.
"But due to the fact that the supernatural world is now merged with the Human world, we are advised to never unleash our wolf near civilization. We can only do this in the woods or far away so that no one will get hurt," Liam explained.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him. "I know all this stuff. I am not dumb! This is basic knowledge taught in school. We learn about werewolves too, remember?" I pointed out in frustration as I was already getting bored with his story.
I had been waiting patiently for him to get to the part where he explained why they wanted to marry me or why I was their cure.
"Have some patience, Camilla," Lucien warned.
Lucas only continued to stare coldly at me and I only sighed heavily.
"Now this is where the problem is. We are unable to control our inner wolves in a full moon. It has been destabilizing us and leaving us too dangerous to walk among humans and our pack. Once we rage out like that, there's no telling what we would do to anyone who is near," Liam explained.
I parted my lips slightly at him as I took in the information.
"We were told that only our mate could heal us," Lucien joined in.
I furrowed my brows at him. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"This is where you come in. Your presence with us will cure us," Lucas finally said for the first time after a long time.
"Which is why we decided to marry you," Liam announced.
I gave them the harshest stare as they spoke about marriage again. "How can you just decide on marriage as if it's a joke? Marriage is a life long commitment!" I roared.
Lucas scoffed. "That is where you are wrong. We do not plan to be stuck in this prison called marriage for a long time. Six months should be enough to cure us. So the marriage shall last for only six months!" Lucas announced.
I tilted my head at the idea. It did not sound so bad.
"Are you serious?" I demanded.
Lucien nodded. "All we need is for you to cure us and you can be on your way," he confirmed.
I folded my arms again. "And what if you're not healed by then?" I demanded.
Lucas was about to speak up but Lucien beat him to it. "Then we'll let you go," he promised.
Liam suddenly cleared his throat. "I was wondering why you were being chased by those men," he began, changing the subject completely.
I shot him a cold stare. "It's none of your business," I stated firmly.
Liam looked offended by my rude reply but he remained silent.
My mind traveled back to their proposal. I could benefit from this too since I was in need of help. I thought of all the things I had to accomplish. I could not do it on my own but with the Alphas by my side, I could work something out.
After all, I needed power to make the man chasing me pay for his sins. I needed power to make the world listen to someone as small as me. The triplets were my key.
"Fine, I'll do it. I accept," I announced after long minutes had passed.
Liam's smile was the brightest of the three.
"I'm wondering though, why you suddenly changed your mind," Liam muttered and his brothers shot him harsh glares. He only shrugged in return.
"I want power and protection from you three and you can offer me just that. I'm aware that your power originates from the old money you possess. I am in good hands," I answered almost immediately. I hoped that they would not ask me more questions concerning my reasons for accepting it.
The triplets stared at themselves for a while and nodded.
"But," Lucien began and I looked up at him. "There must be no feelings attached. Especially since you're only a human and you are not to be our wife for a long time," he stated.
I scrawled at them. I hated it when they referred me to as nothing but a mere human. It always got on my nerves but there was nothing I could do.
"What do you mean by that?" I demanded.
They ignored me with a wave of their hands and Liam went out of the room to bring papers for me to sign. He came back shortly after and handed them to me. I skimmed through them and saw that they had all the details of our agreement.
I exhaled sharply before signing them and gave them back to the triplets.
"It is done. We shall have an official marriage once you're better," Lucien announced and all three brothers smiled at me.
There was something about that smile that made my insides crawl. It was so unnerving and I began to feel as if I had made the wrong move.
This was a deal with the devil and my devil had come in the form of three handsome werewolves.
What have I gotten myself into? What have I done? Most especially, will I truly be able to break free and walk away when the time comes?
“Was this why you saved me?” I finally asked.
“We don't know why we did that too. Guess the moon goddess wanted us to have you” Lucas smirked.
