Chapter 7

Elizabeth’s POV I lay on the bed in Kyle’s room, my legs wrapped around his waist as he stroked my back with his hand. We kissed and talked until the sun was setting through his window. Helen and Lucas had both linked me separately, and I told them I was getting to know my mate. They didn’t bother me after that. I was appreciative Kyle didn’t try to push s*x on me. I did give him a blow job, which he was shocked about. In return, he gave me the most euphoric orgasm I ever experienced with his tongue. I’m falling for him, big time. “What’s it like not living with the ability to speak?” Kyle asks me. I was waiting for a question like this. “It’s been a part of my life since I was 10; I haven’t really thought about it. Umm, I was shocked at first, I didn’t know what was going on”, I told him, trying to piece the words together. “When grandpa Horice told us what had happened, I realized mum and Aunty Lucinda were trying to keep us safe. It’s a part of me now. It’s not so bad because I can still speak, just in people’s minds.” “I couldn’t imagine losing one of my senses. We rely on them as werewolves. Losing one must be devastating”, he adds, and I simply shrug my shoulders at him. “It’s not as difficult as you may think. Once one is gone, the others take over. Look at Helen, for instance. She can’t see, but she can detect others by smell and sound. It’s made her, me and Lucas more acceptable to our other senses”, I tell him, and he nods his head in understanding. “I can hear my voice in my own head. That’s probably why I can mind link. But I can also hear, smell and see better.” “We should get some food” he says, unwrapping my legs from around his waist. I was going to protest. I wasn’t hungry, but my stomach turned traitor on me with a huge grumble. I nodded my head and got up from the bed. We walk down the hallway, hand in hand. I couldn’t stop the smile on my face; and by the looks of it, Kyle couldn’t either. “You two finally decided to come up for air”, Lucas announced as we walked into the dining hall. I glare at my brother, who starts laughing, and I do my common gesture; flipping him the bird. “Are you staying at the castle?” Josie asks me, grinning from ear to ear as Uncle Steven glares at Kyle. He was always protective of all of us and stepped up as the father figure we needed. I never remember him glaring at Shelby or Ethan when Peter and Eden found their mate, but I was at school when it happened. He could have. “I hope she does” Kyle answered for me as my cheeks turned pink. “It will be up to Lizzy if she wants to stay here.” We took a seat and I saw Kyle’s eyes glaze over. He let out a grunt of disapproval as I turned to glance at his mother. I give her a small smile before Kyle grabs my hand and places it on his thigh. I can sense he is angry and sad at the same time. This must be what they mean. We can feel each other’s emotions through the bond. It’s probably because the bond is getting stronger. “What did we miss?” he asks around the table. “Not much at all” Helen said, keeping a grin on her face. Hunter was sitting next to her and gave her a wink. I don’t know why he keeps doing that. She can’t see him. There were a few chuckles around the table as I drew in a breath. I push the food around my plate, feeling uncomfortable all of a sudden. I could feel everyone’s eyes were now on me with my hand on Kyle’s thigh. I quickly move it and take a few gulps of water from the glass on the table. “Everything, OK?” Kyle whispers, grabbing my hand and placing it back under the table. He keeps hold of it this time. He must be able to feel my emotions too. I nod my head trying to push back the anxiety I am feeling. “Then eat your dinner, and we can go back to my room.” There were a few more knowing smirks and my cheeks grew hotter with the stares around the table. I concentrate on my plate and shovel as much food in my mouth as it can hold. To my relief, everyone else followed suit and I had finished my plate before I knew it. “May we be excused” Kyle asks, staring at Queen Maxine. She nods her head promptly, and he pulls me up from my chair, and we head out of the dining room. “What did your mother say to you?” I asked, and he shook his head in my direction. Why won’t he tell me? Did she not like me? I didn’t get that impression when I was chatting with her before the ceremony. Was she just putting on a facade for me instead of telling me what she really thought? “What’s not to like?” Lacey says, coming forward in my mind. I don’t answer her, but I know the answer always remains the same. Being a Hybrid is one thing; not having a voice is another, and I’m the combination of the two. “Pfft. If that’s a reason to not like you, then to hell with her.” We get back to Kyle’s room, and he shuts the door behind us. I wander to the sofa, getting ready for the rejection he needs to do. I know I was ready to reject him; but I have fallen for him. This is going to hurt more than ever, knowing I can’t have him. “OK; reject me and get it over and done with”, I signed to him. “Reject you? What are you talking about?” Kyle asks, taking a seat next to me. Hurt and confusion etched into his brown eyes. “Why would you think I was going to reject you?” “Because” I signed, struggling to come up with the words. “You were angry and sad at the same time when you were linking with your mum. I could feel it”, I told him, and he let out a hearty chuckle. “Mum was lecturing me about the sanctity of mateship and was pissed I was having s*x with Molly this morning before I met you” he explains, and I let out a breath of relief. I should have known it was about what we discussed before the ceremony. “She also said, You are to stay here. She won’t take no for an answer. I told her we can’t force you to stay if you don’t want to. I want you to stay, but…” he trailed off. I can feel his apprehension. I pulled his face to look at me. “I want to stay”, I signed, beaming a smile at him. He pushes his mouth into mine and I climb over his lap, straddling him. “I am never going to reject you and if you reject me, I am never going to accept it. You are stuck with me forever, Elizabeth Surry” he whispered with a deep husky voice. He began to plant kisses down my jawline. Goddess, that feels good. “Stay here tonight” he says, slowly trailing his lips down my neck. I think he asked me to stay tonight. I’m not sure if he was asking or telling me. My mind is such a blur. I nod my head as he lifts me off the sofa. I wrap my legs around his waist, and he carefully walks me to the bed and places me in the center. He walks over to the other room I noticed earlier and comes back in boxer shorts. He also has a red t-shirt in his hand. “Put this on. You will be more comfortable than sleeping in your dress.” I raised my eyebrows before grinning and taking the shirt from his hand. I take off my dress and put the shirt over my head. It’s so big on me, it comes down to my mid-thigh. Before I lay back down, I reached up behind me and unclasp my bra. I pull each shoulder strap down through the armholes before pulling the bra out and placing it on the side of the bed. “You are going to be the death of me”, Kyle stammers and I grin; lying back down on the pillows. Kyle puts his arms around me, stroking his fingers down my thigh. I nestle my back into his chest and close my eyes, allowing his scent to lull me to sleep. “Liz?” Kyle’s sleepy voice came through my mind. “Hmm?” I replied just as sleepily. “Promise me you won’t try to reject me again” he says, and I open my eyes. I rolled over to look at him and propped myself up on my elbow. “I promise” I tell him, pecking him on the mouth as he closes his eyes again, a smile on his face. I lay my head down on his shoulder and slowly drifted off to sleep.
