4 - Mate, Mate, That's our Mate

2158 Words
Elizabeth’s POV I thought our packhouse was huge; this castle is bigger. Lucas walked up the stairs as though he owned the place and shoulder tapped a tall guy with shoulder-length black hair. I think he called him Hunter before shoulder tapping another guy who looked like the first one but with shoulder-length blonde hair, he called Jacob. Haven’t these guys ever heard of a hairdresser? And what is with the bum fluff under Jacob’s nose? “It’s kinda cute he thinks he can grow a mustache,” Lacey said, pacing around in my head. She’s been nervous all morning and whatever happens, we will be there to help Lucas rebuild our pack, which should never have been destroyed in the first place. “Amen, sister.” Jacob and Hunter led us through a perfectly manicured garden. There were topiaries of wolves in different positions with different flowers scattered in their own garden beds. I noticed marigolds, lavender, poppies and lilies. We were led through a double door that smelt like cedar and inhaled a deep breath because I love the smell of cedar. I took in another breath as we proceeded down a corridor. “Elizabeth, your room is here next to mine and, Helen, you will be on the other side,” Hunter stated, giving her a wink while I stepped forward and opened the door to my room. My mouth gaped open because it was bigger than the apartment we owned near our school and that had three bedrooms in it. The wallpaper was a cream color with green accent lines running through them. There is a small kitchenette to the side with some sofas and a big screen television. On the far wall was a four-poster king-sized bed and two doors opposite. I am guessing they lead to a bathroom and closet. I place my suitcase on the bed and head to the first door. ‘And behind door number one,’ I said to myself, opening it up. “Holy s**t,” I gasped to Lacey, stepping foot in the ginormous bathroom. The shower has a touchpad with; 1,2,3,4….7 jets on it. I wouldn’t even know where to start to turn it on. “Try the on/off button,” Lacey said, snickering away while I rolled my eyes because she was right, there is an on/off button. “Naturally. I am always right.” Ignoring her, I turned to look at the bathtub; it looked as though it could fit 5 people in there. “We can have some fun, if you get my drift,” Lacey voiced and I rolled my eyes at her again. “We aren’t here to fraternize, we are here for Lucas,” I reprimanded, heading back over to the shower to try the on switch as the controller lit up and the large overhead nozzle cascades water down to the tiled floor. I push another button and the water temperature rises. There was a button with the word mist on it and I pushed it while warm mist comes out of three of the jets. Yes, I am going to have fun here. “You may have not given your V card, but you have pleasured yourself before. Maybe bum fluff boy wouldn’t mind taking it from you,” Lacey encouraged, bringing us back to the conversation I desperately tried to avoid. I shrugged my shoulders at the thought. He was kind of good-looking, but I am more inclined to be attracted to Hunter than him, but I wasn’t feeling the vibe with either of them. “What more of a vibe do you need? He’s a man, you’re a…” “Lacey,” I screamed, cutting her off from her rant. “I’m saving my V card for my mate. Will you stop with the nature is nature talk, please.” I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my suitcase from the bed before heading to door number two. Like the rest of the room, the closet is huge. What I bought with me, wouldn’t even fill a tenth of the closet space. I shrugged my shoulders and placed my suitcase to the side because there was no use pulling my clothes out only to repack them in a few days. Deciding the tour of my room was over, I left the room and headed down the corridor to explore the rest of the castle, and I stumbled into what looked like the dining hall. I headed over to the opposite direction where I assumed the kitchen was, when I was stopped by a woman with auburn hair with blonde highlights running through it. She was wearing pink hipster shorts and a boob tube top. ‘The kingdom’s slut, no doubt,’ I said to myself. “You must be the new help around here,” she said, pushing an empty plate into my hands. I beg your finest pardon? Did she just call me the hired help? I’m the sister of the new Alpha of Silver Falls pack. I’m not the hired help. I put the plate down and waved my hands in front of me, causing the woman to scowl and get up from the table. “How dare you, you insolent little b***h. Do you know who I am?” I tried to wave my hand in front of me again when an intoxicating scent hit my nose of rosemary and cedar. I didn’t register the woman had raised her hand when someone grabbed her wrist; “What are you doing to my mate?” the low baritone voice snarled. Did he just say what I thought he said? He must have because Lacey was bouncing around in my head, screaming; “Mate, mate. That’s our mate.” “You can’t be serious?” the snobby redhead said, her face contorted with contempt. “The hired help is your mate. No wonder you were f*****g me this morning.” My eyes went wide. I didn’t even look at the man before I ran out of the room, tears falling down my face and I could hear him chasing after me as I reached my room, slamming the door shut behind me. It didn’t bang. Why didn’t it bang? I turned to see what had happened. Damn! he was fast. He put his foot on the threshold; “What’s your name?” I heard him whisper as he pushed open the door and I slowly backed away. I don’t answer, mainly because I can’t and I glared at the man in front of me. Damn, why does he have to be a goddess’s gift to the world? There must be muscle upon muscle under that tight-fitting green shirt of his. And what is he? Six, eight, six, nine? He’s taller than Lucas. And his shoulder-length brown hair is to die for, I want to run my fing… Control yourself, Lizzy. He was f*****g someone else this morning. You’re mad at him. “You’re not going to tell me your name?” he said with a little chuckle, making himself at home on the sofa. I rolled my eyes and pointed to my throat, waving my hand to indicate I couldn’t speak. To my surprise, he started to sign. “You must be Elizabeth, Lucas’ sister. I’m Kyle,” he signed, giving me a perfect smile that melted me right between the legs. The name finally registered, and my eyes bulged open. Holy crap, he’s the prince. “Elizabeth,” he murmured, knowing I could hear perfectly fine, getting off the sofa and stepping toward me. I take a few steps back, my hands going a million miles a minute. ‘I’m sorry Prince Kyle. I can’t be your mate. I can’t even speak, let alone know what I should do. I, Elizabeth Nerida Surry of the Silver Falls Pack; reject…’ I signed and Kyle grabbed hold of my hands. “You are not rejecting me,” Kyle stated, refusing to let go of my hands. Gees, the mate bond sure knows how to electrify my insides. I bet he can smell it too. “About Molly,” he growled, and I shove him away because I forgot about his little escapade. Thanks for bringing it up again. “She doesn’t mean anything, Lizzy. She was one of the she-wolves I had to pass the time until I found my mate.” Can he be serious right now? One of the she-wolves? How many she-wolves are we talking about? What a f*****g man w***e. “Lucas, can you please come and remove this man w***e from my room,” I mind linked my brother and before I could explain more, he was at my door ready for a fight when he saw who was in my room. Prince Kyle quickly took a few strides to the door; his back was turned, but I could see his arms moving; telling me he was signing to Lucas. “She’s your what? And you did what?” Lucas yelled, looking between me and Prince Kyle as Prince Kyle’s arms started moving again. “Kyle, you are one of my best friends. Man, you f****d up. I respect the crown and all, but if my sister asked me to remove the man w***e from her room, then… you better go. Please don’t make this harder on us than it already is.” Prince Kyle glanced at me, his face falling in defeat before stepping out the doorway. Lucas shuts the door and I fall on the sofa, fresh tears streaming down my face. “Lizzy, I’m sorry,” Lucas said, coming over and putting his arms around me. “He really is a great guy. You should give him a chance.” I open my mouth to scoff but nothing comes out. There have been a few times in the past I completely forgot I couldn’t make a sound; this was one of them. Frustrated, I rolled my eyes at my brother. “He has to prove himself, he is a great guy,” I mind linked, trying to suck the tears back and failing miserably. It was Lucas’ turn to scoff. I wasn’t naive to the fact people screwed around before they find their mates. Each to their own. I’ve had my fair share of dating guys too but never went all the way with them. Given most of my dates were human and knowing what happens when we find our mate, I didn’t want to be in a serious relationship with someone, to have it destroyed in seconds. Werewolves were more forgiving that way. “You sound like you forgive mate,” Lacey excitedly chanted, bouncing around in my head. “It’s not that he was sleeping around that bothers me,” I snarled, making her stop her bouncing. “It’s he was doing something this morning with the kingdom’s whore.” “Lizzy?” Lucas said, pulling me away from my conversation. Everyone I am close to is used to me being caught up in my head. “What are you thinking?” I don’t really want to mind link, so I signed my thoughts to him. “I don’t really care he had women before, but when I first smelt his scent, the w***e he slept with was saying no wonder they f****d this morning. I saw red and ran away.” “I can understand why you would,” Lucas sighed, turning my body to face him so he could sign the last part; “he regrets you finding out about Molly that way. He ended it this morning and wanted to show you, finding his mate means more to him than anyone or anything.” “How?” I asked, tears falling down my cheeks again. How do I mean more to him than anyone? He doesn’t know me. “I can’t even speak. How am I supposed to be a queen if I can’t communicate with the kingdom? I think I needed to reject him, but he stopped me.” “He didn’t tell me that part,” Lucas snarled, standing up from his seat as my eyes bulged wide, for the umpteenth time today. I’ve been shocked more times than I can count. “I’m not angry at you. If you want to reject him, that’s your decision” he said, sitting down again. “Do me a favor; give him a chance, you never know what may happen and if he ends up being a douche bag, then you can reject him.” I nodded my head and Lucas gave me another hug; “Come on, we need to head down to the throne room. I promise I won’t say anything, but you can’t avoid Kyle for much longer.” I nodded my head again and we both walk out of my room, and Lucas escorts me to the throne room.
