Julian Vance: The reluctant heir to a massive real estate empire. He’s spent his whole life being groomed for the boardroom, surrounded by people who only care about his net worth. He's cynical about love until he meets someone completely unimpressed by his wealth. Clara Mendoza: A passionate, fiercely independent community organizer or non-profit director fighting to save a local historic district from redevelopment (unbeknownst to her, by Julian’s family company). She values community, art, and human connection above a paycheck.Arthur Vance (The Patriarch / Grandfather): The formidable founder of Vance Enterprises. He views everything—including his family—as a business transaction. He is the one holding the purse strings and threatens to cut Julian out of the family trust if Julian doesn't marry a "suitable" heiress or go through with the redevelopment project. Victoria Vance (The Mother): A high-society matriarch obsessed with appearances, social standing, and keeping up with old money traditions. She loves Julian but genuinely believes that financial security and status are love, and she deeply disapproves of Clara.Leo Vance (The Wild-Card Brother): Julian’s younger, irresponsible brother. He enjoys the family wealth without any of the corporate responsibility. He acts as a foil to Julian—either trying to help Julian break free, or secretly plotting to take Julian's place as heir if Julian messes up.Elena Mendoza (The Mother): A warm, hardworking woman who raised Clara on her own while working multiple jobs. She is fiercely protective of Clara and highly suspicious of Julian’s intentions, fearing her daughter will get her heart broken by a rich guy playing a game. Mateo Mendoza (The Younger Brother): An aspiring artist or college student who is constantly stressed about tuition and rent. He represents the very real financial stakes Clara is fighting for, making Julian’s casual wealth a bitter pill to swallow at first. Abuela Rosa (The Grandmother): The wise, sharp-tongued heart of the family. She sees right through Julian’s wealthy armor to who he actually is as a person. She's the one who reminds Clara that "you can't eat money, but a cold heart will starve you."

Episode 1: The Cost of a Square Foot
The rain in Manhattan swirled sideways through the concrete canyons, plastering Clara Mendoza’s curly hair to her forehead as she hauled a heavy plastic crate of protest flyers up the community center steps. The flyers read: SAVE EL BARRIO—PEOPLE OVER PROFIT. Inside, Clara dropped the crate onto a folding table and looked at her mother, Elena, who was setting out coffee cups. "The turnout will be good tonight, Ma," Clara said, trying to inject confidence into her voice. "Vance Enterprises bought the entire block. If they bulldoze the neighborhood clinic for luxury condos, this community is dead." Elena sighed, her worn hands smoothing her apron. "I know, mija. But Arthur Vance is a man who buys mayors for breakfast. Just be careful." "We have the zoning laws on our side," Clara insisted, though her stomach twisted. She knew money didn't follow the rules; it rewrote them. Three miles downtown, forty stories above the street, Julian Vance stood with his hands in his pockets, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows of Vance Enterprises. He wore a bespoke suit that cost more than a community organizer’s annual rent, but he felt entirely hollowed out. The heavy oak door clicked open. His mother, Victoria, swept into the office, the scent of expensive perfume trailing in her wake. "Julian, darling," she said, her voice sharp as a razor. "Your grandfather is ecstatic about the El Barrio acquisition. He’s anxious to see you take the lead on the groundbreaking." Julian turned slowly. "The community board is fighting the eviction notices, Mother. There are families who have lived there for generations." "Let’s not be sentimental, Julian," Victoria interrupted, her smile tight. "Sentimentality doesn’t pay the dividends that fund your lifestyle. Or your brother’s." Right on cue, his younger brother Leo strolled in, checking his gold watch. "Speaking of my lifestyle, Jules, I need you to sign off on a 'consulting fee' for my friend’s art gallery. Grandfather is tracking my card again." "No, Leo," Julian said, a headache blooming behind his eyes. "I'm not falsifying company records for your weekend in Ibiza." "Julian knows his duty," Victoria chided softly, her eyes locked on her eldest son. "You will be at the community forum tonight to close the matter, yes?" Julian swallowed the bitter taste in his mouth. "I'll be there." The community center was packed and thick with the smell of wet coats. Clara stood at the podium, her voice ringing clear over the microphone. "They see our neighborhood as numbers on a spreadsheet!" Clara shouted. "But we see a home!" The crowd roared. Suddenly, the back doors pushed open. Julian Vance walked in, flanked by security. He looked entirely out of place—a sleek, dark shadow from another world. Clara paused, her eyes locking onto him. "Speak of the devil," Clara murmured into the microphone, her eyes narrowing. "Tell me, Mr. Vance, did you come to listen to the people you’re displacing, or did you just want to see what a community looks like before you destroy it?" The room turned to glare at him. Julian held up a hand to stop his guards and walked down the center aisle. He stopped ten feet from the podium, looking up at Clara. Up close, she was fierce. Her dark eyes flashed with a passion that Julian hadn't seen in a boardroom in his entire life. "I came to offer a fair relocation package," Julian said, his heart suddenly beating faster. "We don't want your money, Mr. Vance," Clara shot back, stepping out from behind the podium. "Some things aren't for sale. But I guess a man who has a price tag on everything wouldn't understand that." Julian looked at her, and for the first time in his life, the corporate script in his head vanished. "Try me," Julian said softly. Clara crossed her arms. "The forum is starting. Sit down, listen, and maybe you'll learn something." As Julian took a seat, ignoring the furious vibrations of his phone buzzing with texts from his mother, he realized he couldn't take his eyes off Clara Mendoza.
