    The next morning, Audrey sat in front of her mirror, turning her face from one side to the other. Even under a layer of makeup, a bruise, although small, could be seen on her cheek. She sighed loudly and stood. There was nothing else she could do for her cheek since she could not afford to be late on a day like today. She skipped out of her apartment and took the elevator down to the first floor. On her walk to the bus stop, she stopped to pick up today's edition of the newspaper, which she didn’t open until she was nestled on a seat in the back of the bus.
