A Night To Remember Or Forget

1058 Words
Bella breathed deeply after she had parked her car at the bar. The night air was filled with neon lights from the bar, which gave a warm glow on the pavement. She pushed the door open and immediately heard a low hum of conversation and tinkling of glasses. She walked towards the bar, clicking her heels as she stepped on the wood floor. Furthermore, she located a seat at the counter, and ordered a drink with the hope that if she drank enough alcohol, it would stop hurting so badly. While sipping her drink, she could not let go of what had just happened to her. “How could they do this to me?” She whispered under her breath, her voice colorless. Immediately thereafter, Bella heard a deep masculine voice asking, “Rough night?” When Bella looked up at him, there was a tall dark guy standing close by. His eyes were full of worry, and comfort emanated from his presence. “And you might say so”, Bella responded softly. The man moved closer to take up the next seat. “Ethan,” he introduced himself while offering his hand. “Bella,” she replied, shaking his hand with a firm grip as if reassuring herself. They sat in comfortable silence for several minutes, each lost in their thoughts. Finally, Ethan spoke again. “What can I do?” Bella took some time before deciding to tell him everything. Maybe talking to someone would help her ease her pain, then she said. “My boyfriend cheated on me with my step-sister”. Her voice hardly stopped trembling during this confession. And both of them didn't even feel remorseful for what they had done. Suddenly, Ethan looked at Bella with a sympathetic eye. “Wow, that's..... I'm genuinely sorry”. “That’s awful.” Bella nodded as her eyes started tearing up again. “I don't know what to do.” “I’m so lost, and heartbroken.” “I just felt like, coming to the bar could get me drunk and forget about the whole day.” Ethan held out his hand and put it gently on her shoulder. “Sometimes talking to someone you don’t know really helps”. “No judgements, just listening.” Bella took another deep breath and began pouring out her heart, telling Ethan everything about her relationship with Jake, and Samantha who was her step-sister but betrayed and caused her pain too. All the while, Ethan was giving comfort and understanding. Ethan's eyes softened with empathy. “I apologize for everything that had happened to you so far.” You deserve better than this, Bella. “Sometimes, the best thing you can do is move on and focus on yourself.” Bella felt a weight lift from her shoulders. “Thank you, Ethan”. “I needed to hear that.” Bella said as she sighed. Ethan grinned at her. “Anytime.” Life is too short to be burdened by people who do not care about you. As time went by, Bella was gradually drawn towards Ethan’s charisma and sincere kindness. She smiled back flirtatiously as she played along. She loved the way he made her feel, noticed, accepted, attractive. It was undeniable they were attracted to each other now. It wasn't long before they both knew they would be going home after the bar closed. “Want us to leave?” Asked Ethan in a low, inviting tone. “Yes,” nodded Bella and then stopped because she ran out of words. They strode along the street, pacing their steps, chatting about everything and nothing. Bella chuckled at Ethan's witty remarks, feeling lighter than she had in weeks. They arrived at Ethan’s car, and he opened the door for her. “Where to?” he asked with a teasing smile. “Anywhere,” Bella said brightly, eyes shining. Ethan drove them to a quiet spot off the road where they could see the city below. It was an incredible sight, with lights flickering as far as one could see. They sat on top of the car’s hood. There was silence around them that felt comfortable and with unspoken possibilities. Bella watched him steadfastly, warmth flooding her heart. “Thank you, Ethan,” she said gratefully. As if in response to his thoughts about life’s unfairness, he told her. “You know, Bella, sometimes bad things happen out of nowhere, but it is how we deal with them that shows who we really are. You’re stronger than you think.” Her look into his eyes conveyed a deep thankfulness. “Thanks Ethan, I need this right now, at least it was a pleasure to have you around even though we're just strangers.” He leaned towards her face and brushed away some hair gently from her cheeks. “I’m glad I could help.” The moment hung between them laden with electricity. Bella pulled back, as her lips met with Ethan's. The kiss they had was soft at the beginning, but it got thorough as it was filled with the emotions of the night. They moved apart, looking stunned yet still kept their gaze locked on each other for several seconds before speaking again. “Can we go to my place?” His voice sounded different, deeper than usual. Bella was dumbstruck, as she was left with no words. “Would you want to come over?” Ethan asked with a husky voice. “Yes, I would,” Bella replied, nodding her head. Oh, did I just say yes? Bella muttered softly to herself. With each passing moment, the excitement built up as they drove to his apartment. Barely through the door, their lips met once more, but this time with urgency. Soon clothes were shed, and they walked into the bedroom in an entangled state. For her, it was a blur of passion that she desperately needed to take her away from all that pain she had been carrying along. Afterward, while they were lying down together, there was something Bella felt deep within herself that resembled peace in its nature but which had not been around for ages now. I hope I don't regret my actions tonight, Bella muttered to herself. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she moaned in pleasure.
