CHAPTER FOUR

They took me to another room. This one was large like it was meant for two people. It had everything. Books included. The doctors told me that the police would arrive later in the day for questions. They always ask questions. I laid down on the bed. My mind flashed back at the events of the night before. “ Lara Clark” I shut my eyes tightly, then opened them again. At least the black spots had reduced. It never really goes away. My parents thought it was an eye issue. I got tested and nothing was wrong. I remember losing myself and blacking out in high school because of an incident. When I finally regained consciousness, my uniform was covered in blood. The people I argued with were on the floor beside me. A lot of students were looking at me….or us. The teachers hurriedly arrived at the scene and the other two students were taken to the hospital. I was suspended for two weeks. It would have been an expulsion but someone testified on my behalf. I don't start trouble. It always comes to me. I still don't know who testified on my behalf but I'm grateful to that person. When I arrived at school, I was instantly popular. Attention is sickening. I had to endure. But when the twig snapped, I lurched forward. A group of annoying parents rounded me during the PTA meeting. My parents were there. They tried pleading with the parents but they didn't budge. My mom was pregnant at that time. One of the parents pushed her hard and she landed with her stomach to the ground. She laid on the floor for a while receiving help from everybody till the sound of screams echoed through the hall. The man who pushed her down was on his knees begging. He pleaded with my mom to forgive him. No one understood. It was as though they forgot I was standing there. The black spots occupied my vision again. I knew there was no going back. ***** I woke up at the hospital. My dad was sitting beside me. “ You almost became a murderer.” He said. I exhaled. “ It's not my fault.”
