True to my word, I hadn’t left my room once more during the night. Of course, I hadn’t been able to fall asleep once I had returned to it—if anything, I was even more restless—but the fact of the matter remained that I hadn’t left my room. But now that the sun was rising, now that I could feel the heavy weight that had nestled itself below my eyes, dragging down my eyelids, I wished for nothing more than to have been able to sleep.
