Oliver took her hand gently and pulled her to himself. His hand went around her waist and just moulded into her body.
He walked straight past the paparazzi even though they were calling out to the newest couple. Oliver just turned and smiled once and that's it.
Sophia was glad he didn't pressurize her to pose, because she definitely would've made a fool out of herself.
She sighed in relief as they reached inside. She noticed how his hand was still on her back.
"You're okay? That was a sea of reporters out there" he said.
Was he trying to make conversation?
"Yeah, I'm good" she replied.
Sophia adjusted her hair and noticed how Oliver stole a glance at her again. She blushed and looked away.
-X-
"Where is the lawyer wife of yours?" Oliver heard someone say.
"Mr.Huntington" Oliver laughed and hugged the old man.
"She's right here. Meet my wife, Sophia Alvarez" Oliver introduced her. It didn't go unnoticed by Sophia that Oliver actually sounded proud.
"Ah! The lawyer." He remarked again.
"Mr.Huntington always wanted to become a lawyer, but he had to take over the family business as a young son." Oliver introduced.
"He basically means to say I have a soft spot for lawyers" the old man laughed and said.
"You did good, Oliver. I'm happy for you" he said looking between Oliver and Sophia and patted Oliver on his back before leaving.
"You look like you need a drink" Oliver said looking at Sophia.
"Why do I feel like everybody is looking at me?" She said nervously.
Oliver noticed her fingers shaking, her lips quivering as she turned away from all the people.
He ran his hand along the side of her arm a few times, to help calm her down.
"Hey, Sophia. Are you anxious?" He asked carefully this time, after he saw her turn pale.
He immediately took her in his arms which almost caused her to shriek.
"Oliver what are you-?"
"Shhh. Relax. I got you. Close your eyes for a while and think about something else."
He put his hands around her waist gently and patted her back.
Sophia put her trembling hands around his neck.
She couldn't believe that she actually felt better. Her breathing was normal and she no longer felt sweaty or pukish.
She relaxed into his body for a while not thinking about the consequences.
"They're just people, Sophia. Like you and I. Don't let them bother you."
He said as he pulled away slowly, his hands still on her waist.
He let go of her hesitantly.
-X-
"Look at her. She's so average"
"I cannot believe Oliver married her"
Sophia sighed. This was what she was afraid of.
She heard some women comment about her in the background. She didn't care who. She didn't want to turn around and fight or anything. There wasn't anything wrong in what they said.
Deep in thought she forgot Oliver walking towards her with her drink in his hand.
"Here's your Martini"
"Thanks" She said as she took it from. She badly needed the alcohol if she had to get through this thing.
But she was impressed with Oliver. He hadn't left her side the whole evening. He was always nice to her. She wondered whether it was genuine or he just felt sorry for her.
"What would I have to do to get a dance with Mr. Oliver black?"
Oliver and Sophia turned around to see a beautiful blonde woman in the skimpiest little outfit.
"Arianna"
"Oliver" Sophia daw Oliver tense up a little.
"I believe you haven't met my wife. This is Sophia Alvarez"
"Nice to meet you" she said with the fakest smile.
She took Oliver with her to the dance floor leaving Sophia alone. She looked at the two of them.
They definitely had history.
Ariana was way too close to Oliver, though his face was tense.
"Seriously? Look at her" Arianna said.
Oliver tolled his eyes.
"How do you even have s*x with her? Bet she can't satisfy you like I did" she chuckled.
That's it. He let go of her in the middle of the dance.
"A kind heart is more beautiful than a pretty face" he said angrily and walked to his wife.
Did he just defend Sophia? Did he just care about her?
No she was his wife at least to the world, that's why he did it.
Convinced he approached Sophia who was busy talking to some man. He was laughing too much.
"Sophia, dance with me" he said.
She looked at him with panic in the beginning then sighed when she realized he was not going to take no for an answer.
He glared at the man who was speaking to her before as he led her to the dance floor.
Arianna frowned at the couple approaching the dance floor who now had all the eyes on them.
They all heard someone clear their throat.
"Good evening ladies and gentleman. I hope you're all having a great time." Mr.Huntington said.
"As we didn't get a big fat wedding from Mr.Black, I was hoping you could give a first dance atleast" he joked.
The lights dimmed out, people dispersed to a circle. In the center with a spotlight were Oliver and Sophia.
Oliver saw the pure fear in Sophia's eyes. He walked closer, took her hand and slid another firm hand over her back.
"Forget all those around. It's just you and me" he said.
All this interaction with Oliver was messing with her head. He doesn't speak a word for a whole month and suddenly tonight he cares?
Sophia, he's just being sweet. Why the hell you gotta overthink everything?
She relaxed into him slightly. She lifted her chin to look him in the eye.
For the first time.
He saw her eyes and saw pure innocence mixed with fear. And maybe a hint of sadness? He smiled at her softly.
"Thank you" she said so softly he almost thought he imagined it.
He nodded his head and the hold on her waist became tighter in response.
The song ended, the lights were back on and people were clapping.
"Sophia"
"Oliver"
"I think they want us to kiss"
"Oh"
"Can I kiss you?" He asked.
Sophia blushed and thought about it for a second before agreeing.
"Sophia?"
"Yes, Oliver"
"Please don't faint" he said as he gently pulled her face to himself and kissed her plump lips.
It was a simple, soft, gentle kiss.
That's how she kissed her husband for the first time.
