"Congratulations" she heard.
She turned to see the man she had just debated against.
"Evan Collins?"
"Hi, Sophia Alvarez" he smiled at her. He was cute.
"Hey.."
"When I saw you walk onto that stage, I didn't expect you to speak that well, to be very honest. You're a firecracker." He said, taking a sip of his drink.
Sophie's team had won the debate and they had all come out to a nearby bar to celebrate, but turns out the other teams were here too.
"When are you going back to New York?"
"Uhh..tomorrow morning" she replied.
"Meet me in New York, Sophie" he said, dreamily.
"I'm sorry Evan..but only my friends call me Sophie" she said as she blushed.
"But I like Sophie" he pouted.
Why does he have to be so cute?
"So, will you go out with me?" He asked again.
"Yes" Sophia replied.
I mean Oliver wouldn't care and there were no restrictions to dating in the contract. Sophia knew Oliver was with a new woman every week and so it wouldn't be a problem at all. Maybe, she needs to put herself out there, have some fun like Anisha said. In the spirit of winning and celebration she decided to let go of her inhibitions for once and agreed to go out on a date with Evan.
They made small conversation and laughed about silly stuff the rest of the night.

"Hey, you're back" Oliver said as he entered the house late at night, surprised to see Sophia reading her books in the living room.
"Hey."
"I'm sorry, I got scared in my room" she said, biting her lip. He found that very distracting. Her lower lip was pink and plump and he wanted to bite it so bad. Focus, Oliver.
He chuckled and sat down next to her. A little too close this time.
"We won, by the way" she said.
"Woah! That's great" he said and pulled her into a hug. Sophia's body felt like on fire as her body met his hard chest. His cologne was a one other thing messing with her mind. She let herself wonder for a second what it would be like to live in his arms forever. She felt safe.
He broke apart from her and walked to get a bottle of wine.
"If you're done studying, how about a glass of celebratory wine?" He said flashing the bottle at her.
Okay, now she couldn't say no to wine.
All this seemed surreal. She thought she and Oliver would never interact. But it's not a bad thing now, is it? Don't overthink it, it's just wine.
He poured the wine into two glasses and gave one to her.
"To the smartass that is Sophia Alvarez" he said and Sophia laughed. She liked it when he called her smart, she thought it was the highest compliment. And given that that she didn't really excel in the looks department, this was more than enough for her.
They clinked their glasses before taking a sip.
"How's your brother?"
"He's good"
"Oliver"
"I don't think I say it enough. Thank you for saving my life, literally." She said, looking at him with pain.
He saw a strand of her hair on her face and used his little finger to move it away, without even touching her.
Sophia froze at the proximity. He hadn't even touched her and she could feel her heart racing.
Her eyes went to his lips. Those plump lips that awakened new sensations in her the last time he kissed her. She had to admit, ever since that kiss, she had started to look at him differently. She didn't know what it was and didn't want to delve into it, to be honest.
Oliver saw her eyes trace his lips and he groaned inward.
He looked away trying to break the trance they were in because he didn't want to do something he'd regret.
"You should sleep, it's really late" he said after she finished her wine.
She kept the glass down and looked at him. Her brown hair was naturally wavy and right now all messy making it look beautiful. Her hair was so long, falling beyond her breasts. Her face clear of any make up. The soft yellow glow of the living room lamps now illuminated her face to give her an ethereal look.
Oliver didn't realise he was staring.
"Yeah I should" she cleared her throat.
He coughed and looked far away to avoid her gaze as he had made a fool out of himself literally gawking at her. His eyes followed her movement when she got up and left the room. He couldn't ignore the jiggle of her ass and cursed himself for thinking of Sophia that way.
Seriously, he could have almost any woman he wanted, but no, he was thinking too much about Sophia.
Nothing can ever happen between them.
It cannot. Cause it's crazy!
He retreated to his own room with a lot of thoughts in his head.

"Sophia?"
"Yeah Oliver"
"I want you to accompany me for a wedding this weekend, Saturday. It's kinda important."
"Saturday...hmmm sure" she thought whether she had any commitments.
"Okay, so we'll be leaving in the afternoon after lunch, the wedding is on a Sunday. And we'll leave soon after the wedding."
"Okay. Sounds fine."
"And, yeah it's in Ireland"
"What?"
"Yeah, don't worry. You won't miss your college or anything."
"No, I'm ..."
"What happened Sophia? Is there a problem?"
"I'm just scared to leave my brother alone" she confessed looking down. Oliver felt bad. He really did.
"Hey, it's one day. We'll be back before you realise it. You can call the nurse in the hospital and check up on him as many times as you want to. I'm going to post two of my men there, okay. They can tell us what's happening. How does that sound?"
Sophia felt much better after listening to that.
"Alright. That would be fine. Thank you, Oliver" she said with a smile.
He looked into her eyes deeply before excusing himself. He really respected her for taking care of her brother. He had no siblings, his parents died in a fire, he was left with a huge fortune and business to take care of at 15. With some help from his uncle who took care of it till Oliver graduate from Yale he had carried the family name with utmost diligence. At 34, he was one of the richest, most admired businessman in the country. He was known for his work ethic and keeping his life very private. Nobody knew much about him. Hell many didn't even know he got married.
"You're a good sister, Sophie" he said before he walked out, flashing one of his charming smiles.
Did he just call her Sophie?
And did her heart just flutter at it?
