Chapter 7

A week passed since they returned from the wedding in Ireland. "Miss Alvarez, what do you have to say to this?" "Huh?" "What do you have to say to Mr. Corrington's argument?" Sophia looked at Corrington, Edward Corrington smirking at her, realising that she wasn't even in this world. "Ummmm...." The professor gave her her a disappointed head shake and asked her to sit down. People looked at each other surprised. This never happened. Woah, that was a first. The minute the class ended, Sophia sighed and sat down. She didn't care about the stares she was getting. Oliver has invaded her thoughts and she couldn't stop thinking about him and that kiss. Or when he said he wanted to kiss her. Does he like me? Why does it have to be so confusing? Sophia ran out of the room in search of her friend Anisha who could probably give some insight into the dilemma she was facing. She caught hold of her near the canteen scrolling her phone. "Hey" "Hey Soph, what's up?" "We need to talk" she said, looking Anisha dead in the eye. They both settled down on the campus gardens, under a huge tree, kind of away from the general crowd. Sophia opened her box to give her one of the wraps Martha made. She felt like a child bringing lunch to college, but Martha made amazing food which had impressed even Anisha. "Everything alright?" She asked, concerned. "Yeah...I mean sorta" "Care to be more specific?" "I kissed him....well he kissed me and I didn't back away" Sophia said, biting her lip. "What? Slow down. Whom did you kiss?" "Oliver, my husband" Woah. Anisha looked at her surprised and then burst out laughing. "What the hell Anisha?" Sophia got up to leave, she was embarrassed already and Anisha was not making it easy. "Oh my god don't be such a drama queen. Sit down." She pulled me back and Sophia sat down with a scowl on her face. "First tell me, did you like kissing your 'husband'?" "That doesn't matter" Sophia said irritated. "It does. Because it can mostly likely happen again. And something more than kissing can happen" she said this time seriously. More than kissing? What? No. I've had only one boyfriend at the age of 17 that lasted a month and the maximum I did was kiss. Panic entered my body as I thought about Oliver and myself being intimate. I mean, maybe he kissed me because he was drunk. But surely he won't sleep with me right? He has like a million other girls he can sleep around with. I don't even seem like his type? Oh my god, Sophia calm down. "Woah. Chill" "First, you relax" Anisha said. "Why does it have to be a bad thing? You and Oliver?" Anisha asked this time with concern in her voice. "I don't know. It's too complicated. I didn't think I would be attracted to him" "Seriously?" Anisha asked with plain sarcasm. Okay who was I kidding, it was Oliver Black after all, of course I would like him. "I don't know okay..he looks all good..but I thought he was a jerk ...so I never have to worry about liking him or anything or that sort..but he has been just so sweet and kind to me...sometimes I wonder if it's because he's like that with everyone or he's just trying to make me comfortable ....or.." "Or?" "Or if he likes me.." Sophia said looking away. "I know, sounds crazy. That's not possible" Sophia laughed this time. "Why isn't it possible?" "Come on Anisha, you know" Sophia said rolling her eyes. "He would be lucky to have you. Anybody would. You're unlike anybody, you're unique. I can go on telling you that you're pretty, you're beautiful etc but all those words won't have any effect unless you believe in it.." Anisha said and I was glad she was honest. "Sophie, I know what you think you're not conventionally pretty. But if you look around, nobody is. Don't compare yourself to some standard that you were never even meant to meet. We must all be the best version of ourselves. And you already are. I mean, I would kill to have your figure. Have you like looked at yourself? I don't know why you keep it hidden. I'd die for those curves, you know that. Nobody is beautiful unless they're confident. You're everything, trust me you are, but none of that will happen unless you're confident about being in your skin. And that doesn't come in one day, it takes time. But you have to try" she said. For the first time I actually listened to someone without any bias or pre formed notion. She was right, my self esteem issues kept me from everything. I was too scared to screw up that I never tried anything new. I'm going to do this for myself. One day at a time. -X- Oliver was sitting in the living room drinking his morning coffee, reading the newspaper when the sight in front of him almost had him spilling it everywhere. What happened to Sophia and who the f**k was this? Sophia came walking down the stairs in a black pencil skirt that hug her curves perfectly and a white blouse which had a little too many buttons undone. Her hair was in soft curls, her face with minimal make up and she was wearing the highest heels possible. Her bag over her shoulder and her phone in hand which she was looking into, she had no idea that Oliver was literally gawking at her. "Sophia?" He asked surprised. She jerked and halted as soon as she saw me. I chuckled at her response, embarrassing her further. Unable to resist he got up and walked to her. Her heels made her almost as tall as me. "You look nice." He said, putting a strand of hair behind her ear, like he always did. She licked her lips out of nervousness but now they had my complete attention. He looked at her lips and then at her eyes as if asking for permission. She pushed closer and he gave her a soft gentle kiss on the lips. Her lips were so soft, so plump he couldn't resist biting her lower lip gently. Her hands touched my arms as if to steady herself and I encircled her waist. Her scent was intoxicating to him. She always smelled like fresh strawberries, he loved it. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "Damn Sophia, if you look so good then I will have to become your bodyguard" He saw her chuckle and blush. She smiled and shook her head. This was probably the first time he made her smile fully. He was happy to see her smile. He lifted her chin and looked into her eyes. For the first time, her eyes didn't look empty which made him feel happier. He kissed her again softly before letting go as she had college and was getting late. Reluctantly, he let go of her. He couldn't help but notice the sway of her ass. It was perfect and he found himself biting his lip. He turned around and thought back to what Greg said. He was falling for his wife.
