As soon as the door closes behind Jacob and Salazar, Carter turns to me with a look in his eyes I recognize, a look of need and longing and affection. I feel it too, of course. I felt it as soon as I saw him, and it's even stronger now that we're alone. I want to feel his arms around me, to forget about everything else and to know that no matter what else is going wrong, his feelings haven't changed.
