There's silence in my office as Salazar's words sink in. He just told me that Erica's father was King Ferdinand, the man who was king before my father.
Neither the blood work nor the adoption file confirms who her mother is, but I don't really need the confirmation. I'm already convinced it's the sorceress. It's the only thing that makes sense.
Which means the late king and the sorceress were obviously pretty well acquainted.
My mind races through the timeline, trying to put everything together. Erica is 18 years old which puts her birth right around the time that my bond was broken. If I'm right, the sorceress enchanted her necklace and left her at the orphanage, already having made her plans to make Erica my mate. That's why she needed me to have no bond of my own.
