“Not to worry,” Lucifer said. “Everything has been taken care of. I would like to pick up where we left off.” After everyone was seated again, Lucifer continued as if nothing had happened. “As I was saying . . . although you weren’t able to complete the job, I was impressed with how well each of you had done. Let me tell you what I am going to give you.” He paused a moment, enjoying watching the three of them shift about nervously. “None of you will ever go back to Hell.”
The three wanted to cry out with joy from the news that they would never have to be unwilling participants of Hell. Almost as if they had accomplished the task that they never quite fulfilled and would still receive the benefits as if they had.
