Chapter 13Martin Schofield frantically rushed to the stern of the boat, his trembling legs giving out before he could reach the handrail. When he crashed to the deck, the binoculars tethered around his neck bounced off of the wood and struck him in the jaw. He gasped and crawled forward with clenched fists, belching out the first heave from his stomach. Bile dripped from his lips. He reached the edge of the boat, where he grabbed a metal cleat and pulled his head over the ocean. Vomit erupted from his mouth, immediately gaining the attention of a passing seagull that swooped into the cloudy, clumpy water for a taste. Once Schofield had emptied his stomach, he pulled himself to his knees and wiped his mouth with the back of his arm. The sound of his own heartbeat echoed through the inside
