Chapter 32Sean knelt at the end of the hallway, his eyes blinking rapidly as he fought to push down the most recent bout of dizziness. He watched for movement until he could no longer hear the Goddess’s vigorous footsteps above the sound of distant waves and the screech of seagulls. She had begged him to join her, pleaded with him to escape through the courtyard to safety. Maybe, even in his condition, the two would have fared better than Lloyd Prevenas had the night the burglar witnessed a double murder. But personal safety wasn’t what was driving Sean—a reckoning was.
