One Night Stand with a City Tycoon.

A new Identity.

Hazel will be resuming as a Cardiologist in City A most prestigious hospital. She has been abroad for quite a while, unfortunately the first scene she witnessed made her regret returning.

“Why hasn't he forgotten about the necklace yet?" Hazel questioned silently while she hastened into her with her kids before causing an unnecessary scene. Even after they left the airport she was bothered about the scene that had unfolded earlier.

She came back to City A to start a new life with her kids and her profession as the center of attraction and probably getting her Mother's properties back, not getting herself involved in unnecessary drama. She exhaled loudly, which made her kids question what the problem was. She assured them that all is well, Savannah had a premonition about her attitude since the scene at the airport unfolds.

She would not bother her just yet, she wants her to settle and get herself used to the City first. They arrived at the mini penthouse that hospital got for them which was situated in the prestigious neighborhood where A-list celebrities and CEO lives.

They tried settling down that day because Hazel would resume work the next day. Her children were also enrolled in a prestigious school. She is a force to reckon with in her profession, she had succeeded with several heart transplants and had treated many heart problems, she was a VIP herself and this made her enjoy many benefits from the hospital.

Hazel drove to work the next day after settling her children in their school. When she reached the reception, she was directed to the top floor. She got into the elevator and punched the number, not quite long a tall and handsome man joined her in the elevator. He sized her up, and he marveled at her beauty.

“Doctor Jonathan”, he introduced himself to Hazel who does not care much about things going on around her. She responded without caring much about it.

“Good morning", she responded shabbily. The elevator chimed on getting to the top floor. Hazel got off the elevator and came in contact with the Chief's Secretary.

“Good morning, you must be Doctor Avril". She responded and she was ushered into the Chief's office. In the office were a group of directors, they were so delighted to have her in their midst. She is one of the best Cardiologists, and they had been scouting for her for a long time before she agreed to join them.

“Doctor Avril, you are welcome to this institution.

We are delighted you finally agreed to join us, we promise that you enjoy your time here, and please feel free to demand anything.”

"Please meet the directors of each section in the hospital”. He introduced each of them to her, and she in turn bowed to acknowledge each of them.

"It's a great pleasure to be back in the City after a long period. I hope we will be able to work together". She signaled to other Directors and appreciated them for welcoming her.

“And cases related to your field will be sent to your email right away, so you can review them and prescribe necessary treatment for them." The Chief chipped in before She took her leave.

Chief asked his Secretary to usher Doc. Avril to her Office. On getting to her office, Lizzy, her Secretary, introduced herself. She was dumbfounded by how far the hospital has prepared for her coming, thinking having a Secretary would not be necessary but she wants to give her evidence of doubt if she will be able to cope with a workaholic like her. She gestured her to sit with her on one of the armchairs in the office.

“Am Avril, I would like you to cooperate with me, I don't entertain too many visitors. Follow my rules and directives strictly and I hope we will get along.”

“Ok, ma". She dismissed her immediately, she asked if she needed anything. She left for her office when she was done serving her.

“I found Doc. Avril pretty. Why was I not informed beforehand?" Doc. Johnathan's eyes glinted as he looked forward to meeting her again.

“Don't even think about that." The Chief enunciates the words slowly.

“Why shouldn't I?"

“She has two kids with a striking resemblance to her. Which implies that she's married.” The Chief was quite stern about that to put his son off the woman's back.

“Oh! That's news. Have you met her husband?" Jonathan mumbled, disappointed.

“No, I am not interested."

"Well, I am interested so it's left for me to find out. Good day, Chief.” He left for his office immediately, but he could not stop thinking about what he had just learned about Dr. Avril.

Jonathan is a Pediatrician, and his love for children brought him into the field. He specializes in different cancer cases in Children. He was found amusing most times which makes him have a great patient and doctor relationship with his patients. The Chief hopes his son will not harm himself with his recent liking.

Avril was seen engrossed with work, flipping pages of a document and noting down necessary things with her pen. She notes that most of the cases referred to her are mild cases. They are not too difficult to handle to prove her expertise in the field. She slated a day for physical cross-examination for each of them.

She left her office with her Secretary to take rounds with her patient. She got to them, introduced herself as their physician, cross-examined them a bit, and asked questions from those that are conscious. She pens down necessary things and instructs nurses available on what to do.

While visiting a VIP patient, Dr. Avril heard the nurse on duty shouting “CODE BLUE" She dashed down immediately and intervened with CPR. While asking the nurse to check his airways, breathing, and blood circulation. Oxygen was administered and she ordered a defibrillator to shock the patient and administered epinephrine until he was stable.

She ordered the patient to be taken to the ICU immediately for further treatment and monitoring which she oversaw herself. Immediately the patient was in Cardiac arrest, the Chief was alerted as well and witnessed the quick intervention of Doc. Avril. The patient was able to survive, due to that timely intervention.

It's spread like wildfire what Doc. Avril had achieved even on her first day of work. Just what was this woman made of? Many people wondered, including the nurses working with her. Her swift response to the situation baffled them a lot.

Meanwhile, the acquaintances of the previous cardiologist could only sneer at her, asking what the fuss was about. Maintaining the stance that their formal cardiologist did more than she do. Her license was sized because she applied the wrong prescription for a patient that cost the patient's life.

The Chief met with Doc. Avril immediately was done. “Thank you for the quick intervention, Doctor. He is an important Personnel in City A".

“Oh! Chief, why are you thanking me? That's my responsibility, you don't expect me to sit idle and watch the time go by, even if it's my first day at work. The Chief could but agree with her, diligence is a virtue for some people he concluded and left for his office.
