Chapter 23 Peter and I lingered over our coffee as long as possible, but finally we realized we needed to leave before we made Judy suspicious. We had stretched out our time talking to the few patrons who had wandered in to order a cup to go. I had even tried to talk to Judy, but she answered in her usual one-line way. She either didn’t want to talk to me, or she really was as shy as I thought. When she answered, her voice was soft, almost girlish, and I felt confident she wasn’t the person we were looking to find.
