Relatives and Roomies

HAZEL’S POV

Breaking apart from Ryder’s warm embrace was tough. He had held me so tight it felt just right.. Alas I must go because Stass and Axel are waiting. I look one last time at Ryder before I turn walking over to the car. Goodbyes are always strange for me probably for the fact that I’ve never really had to do one because when have I ever traveled from the pack? Never.. I know I’m too much into my head right now but I will enjoy school. I just know I will.

‘I love you guys thank you for saving me that day and giving me the opportunity to grow. I may never be able to return a favor that big but I love you both so much. I will miss you guys while I’m gone.’ I mind link my parents opening the back door to Axels car. I am going to truly miss my parents.. “Haze stop sulking you are killing the vibes in here. You will see your mate in like two days.” Stass says as she is turned in her seat to face me. I roll my eyes. “Yes I know I will be back in two days Anastasia. I was thinking of my parents.” I told her and she makes an O with her mouth and turns back to face front. Axel chuckled.

“Alright ladies, Are we ready?” He asks while turning the car on and driving away before either one of us had a chance to answer. “Well I guess we don’t have a say in the matter anyway.” I said sarcastically. Axel laughs harder this time. “Sometimes you just need that push!” He shouts focusing on driving. Anastasia giggled while playing on her phone. I decide to get comfortable and stare out the window hoping to fall asleep. ‘Hi hunny. Sorry your mother and I we’re with the Alpha and Luna. We want you to know Hazel that you are a real gem. You exceed in everything you put your heart into. You are so strong in ways we can’t put into words. We will see you in a few days my little girl. We love you so much.’ I hear my father’s voice in my head. I smile warmly and drift into a much needed nap.

Opening my eyes I am lost for words. Um where am I? Why am I in a open field.. In the middle of the night? I stand up looking around seeing absolutely no one but the brightness of the moons light beaming down on me.. I start feeling as if I’m about to have my first real panic attack.. Did those two ass.holes leave me here? Where the f***k is “here” anyways?! Not to mention I’m now feeling confused and furious all in one.. Like I’m going to explode so I sit back down in the grass and put my face in my hands.. Not a second layer I start hearing sounds so I stood right back up. Ready for anything. All moods hitting me at once. “SHOW YOUR FACE NOW AND I PROMISE TO TAKE IT EASY ON YOU!” I shouted loudly knowing dam.n well I only have my human form to back up my words right now but I am a good fighter in my pack so I will not let my life end.. I look at all my surroundings and still nothing.. “I SAID COME OUT! NOW!” I shouted loudly again. A massive thick white cloud blew by me revealing a woman in the distance. Confused is an understatement..

She was absolutely beautiful. She gleamed in the moon light. Her flawless long blonde hair flowing in the wind as she walks towards me. Watching me with her piercing translucent opal eyes just as my parents described my wolfs eyes.. “Who are you?” I said more in shock state as she stood in front of me. “You know who I am Hazel. Although you were not born as Hazel.” The mysterious woman said to me. “You see child, I am The Moon Goddess and you are a direct descendent of my blood line Maz- I mean Hazel. I have been watching you your whole life. You still have so much to concur. Don’t give up once it gets tough.. It will in fact be the toughest your life has been to date. I say this to you so you will be prepared for anything this world and by that I mean the supernatural world. Angel will be waking up soon and when she does you will be the most powerful.. Even more so than your birth father. This is your right my dear. I know you will make me proud.” I hear the woman who addresses herself as the Moon Goddess say as she fades into the darkness and I feel a jolt. I open my eyes that I thought were already open this entire time and rub them good to see clearly. Looking at my surroundings I see I am still in the car with Stass and Axel. It doesn’t make sense. None of this does. That felt so real and nothing like I’ve ever dreamt before.. I have so many questions.. Who am I? Who are my birth parents? I need to get to the school library and find answers on the Moon Goddess.

“How much longer until we reach Redwood?” I asked them. Stass turned around giving me a smile. “Well hello sleepy head! Considering you slept the entire way here we are about to pull into campus grounds now!” She said overly excited per usual. I laugh and nod my head at her in understanding. She turns back around and I look out the window as we enter through a massive gated entrance all marble stone. There are tall trees on either side of this road. After a good five minute drive I start to see a gigantic porcelain fountain with a statue of the Moon Goddess as the center piece of it. She looks just like the one from my dream.. Absolutely gorgeous even in porcelain. We drive around it and down a bit further as we get to the student parking areas of the building. This place is a castle. Very elegant and has an old charm to it. Axel parks and starts talking but I’ve basically zoned both of them out just staring and admiring that I am actually here on the grounds of Redwood. All my life I have been waiting to be here. I open my door and step out. Breathing in the fresh air.

“Can you pop the trunk so I can get my bag?” I ask Axel and he nods. “Haze have you heard anything I have said? Are you feeling okay? You are acting weird..” Stass says concerned bringing me back to reality. “Huh? Uh yeah I’m fine. More than fine actually. I’m going to meet up with you guys later! I’m going to find my room then head to the library. I will see you both later?” I say hugging her, waving to Axel and grabbing my belongings. She looked at me confused then looked to Axel who shrugged his shoulders with a smile. “Oh okay I will text you in a bit then!” She shouts as I start to walk away. I blew her a kiss and kept walking. There is tons of students everywhere. Some in wolf form running through the woods but most in human talking among their friend groups or packs as we would call them. One thing about werewolves everyone is just so freaking beautiful. Some regal. Some rugged. Overall good looking. I’m excited to meet new friends and expand my knowledge here. I’m not sure how long I will be attending since my mate is Beta to our pack and will be taking over for my father but I will stay as long as I can.

Finally entering the building I walk over to the front desk of admissions which is smacked dead in the middle of the lobby so I can get my room information.

“Hi, I’m Hazel Kade and was hoping to get my room assignments for this year?” I say smiling at the secretary. She doesn’t look like she has ever aged but of course she had to have been my parents age if not a bit older. Long reddish brown hair and green eyes with fair skin. “Of course dear let me look you up in the system.” She says smiling back and I nod to her looking around. The halls are grand and mostly filled with cloisters on this floor. Gorgeous white marble flooring and antique statues, lamps and lighting everywhere. “Okay so it says here you will be in the high ranked wing with Alphas, Betas and Gammas. Your room is located on that wings second floor and room number is five fifteen. If you go towards the left of the building and through the large wooden doors you will find the dorm suites. Take that staircase up a level and you should find your room. If you happen to have trouble and don’t want to ask anyone we have several maps in the main halls for students to follow. Welcome to Redwood and I hope you have a fantastic year. My name is Mary and I am here twenty four seven if you need anything.” She says with a smile handing me my room information and key. I smile to her and begin my way. I read my paper seeing my roommates name as Eliza White. Beta daughter of the Pearl pack. Cool at least someone not far from home. I hope her and I will get along. Walking the halls to where I need to go there are several wondering eyes looking my way. Unmated females are always in the interest of unmated males. Fair game if you will but not for this she-wolf. I keep my head held high as I walk down the long corridor and through the wooden doors. I smile to who ever I see as I walk past and up the staircase to my level. I look down at my paper again for the room number. Five fifteen then proceed to look at the doors they are pretty spaced apart in this long hallway. I see a guy standing outside five fourteen with some luggage.

“Hey I’m Hazel Kade and it looks like your my next door neighbor. Is this your first year too?” I say looking at him as I go to my door putting my bag down and he turns to face me with his go.d like features. Chiseled face, black hair, deep blue eyes and tanned skin. He smiles a million dollar smile. “Yeah it is. I am Reese Jacobs, next Alpha in line from the Amethyst pack.” He says putting his hand out and I shake it. “It’s nice to meet you, I’m from the Emerald pack. My father is the Beta.” I said with a smile. “That’s pretty cool. I’ve heard good things from Emerald pack. I’m sure you’ve heard about my pack. Hopefully you’ll still be my friend after knowing of us.” He says laughing and I join him. “I don’t judge a book by its cover.” I said giving him a smile. “Good to know. Hey I’m gonna drop my bag off then check out the cafeteria, you wanna join me? My roommate won’t be in until later today or sometime tomorrow. He’s away on business I met him at my pack last year. He’s been here a bit.” He says to me and it registered into my brain. “Ares Scratch is your roommate? Alpha of Onyx pack?” I asked him and he widened his eyes. “Yeah, you know him?” He said with a smirk. “Not like that. I met him over summer at an annual pack bonfire party” I say rolling my eyes and shaking my head at his expression. “Mm a sassy one you are huh? We will get along just fine. Yeah he’s a cool dude. I hope to be as badas.s as him when I gain my title.” He said smirking at me again and I chuckled. “You have no idea. I’m happy we met! I’m going to see if my roommate is in and I’ll meet you back out here in a few minutes.” I said smiling and opening my door with the key. “You got it.” I heard him say as I closed my door. Leaning my back against it closing my eyes to breathe for a minute. I heard someone clear their throat and I opened my eyes. Welp there’s my roommate tall, slender built, light blonde hair almost white as snow, light brown eyes and pale skin standing by the coffee maker in our small kitchen. I waved with a smile “Hi you must be Eliza, I’m Hazel Kade your roomie. Sorry for being a bit off. It’s been a long day already.” I say to her as I pick up my stuff and head over to her. “It’s nice to meet you Hazel. You are from Emerald pack?” She asked me and I nodded. “Awesome so we are basically neighbors. I’m from Pearl, my dad is the Beta and as you can tell I don’t get much sun as you guys do in Emerald.” She says laughing. Okay good for a second there I thought she would be uptight. I laugh with her. “Girl don’t you worry! During your off season you’ll have to spend time with me in Emerald. We can hit all the spots for that sun kissed look.” I say winking at her and she smiles big back to me. “That would be so much fun! Anyways I hope you don’t mind I took the room to the right this morning. The bathroom is in the middle of them.” She says to me. “No worries at all! Have you settled in? I met our neighbor next door he’s next line Alpha for Amethyst pack his names Reese, we are going to head down to the cafeteria and check it out if you want to come with?” I asked her and she nods her head. “Okay sounds good I am getting hungry but don’t you want to get settled into your room first?” She asked me. “Nah I can do it later. Besides I’m sure my bestie will be looking for me at some point so I won’t be getting anything done right now.” I tell her with a smile. “Okay I will just grab my sweater and we can go.” She said walking over to her room so I decided to walk over to mine and throw my bag in. Opening the door it’s a good size nothing compared to mine at home but it looks to have a queen sized bed with wooden frame, a dresser and a desk. Perfect if you asked me. I toss my bag in and shut the door checking out our living space. Cozy L shaped couch and a medium sized tv mounted on the wall. Nice. We will definitely be having movie nights, if she’s into that of course. Eliza comes out of her room with her hoodie on and she’s wearing leggings with moccasins. “I’m all set.” She said and we walk to our door, I open it seeing Reese sitting on the floor next to the door on his phone. He jumps up when he sees us. “Eliza this is Reese, Reese this is my roomie Eliza from Pearl pack. Her dad is Beta there.” I said smiling introducing them. He puts his hand out so she can shake it. What a true gentleman. Not like what I’ve heard from Amethyst pack. I smiled at him. “Nice to meet you Eliza, you girls seem cool I’m happy we are in the same quarters. I told my Beta Sammy we’d meet him in the cafe. I hope that’s cool?” He says asking us. “An Alpha asking for our opinion? Wow I am truly touched Reese.” I say sarcastically holding my hand over my heart and he laughs showing off his beautiful smile. “Of course it’s okay you goof! I would love to meet him.” I say giving him a little side push with my shoulder. “We are gonna have a great year girls! Stick with me and we’ll be the three best friends that anyone could ever have.” He says smirking at us and I roll my eyes laughing. Eliza seems a bit reserved but still giggles at his comment. “Alright who knows the way to the cafeteria?” I ask and they both shrug their shoulders at the same time. All three of us laugh again. “Don’t worry ladies I will lead the way, come on!” Reese says smiling then walks down the hall towards the staircase and we follow.
