I got out of the car and found myself trying to hide a smile as i saw Sarah sitting frozen in the car honestly looking terrified, f**k that girl was obviously still listening to her true-crime podcasts. I decided to just ignore this and walked around the car pulling open her door. Her eyes widened as she looked at me in horror as if she was expecting me to pull a gun on her or something. I couldn't help but be amused by this, as there wasn't a single thing in the world that I would find less possible than that. I held my hand out, Sarah frowned at me. I just stood there with my hand extended and she eventually, still frowning, took off her seat belt and slid out of the cart aking my hand. Her fingers lacing with mine made shivers travel up my spine and goosebumps suddenly covered my entire body. I gently pulled on her hand and she walked behind me slightly, clearly hesitantly towards the trees, but after a few seconds I could hear her tiny gasp as we walked onto the forest path, and she saw the line of jars that were starting to light up as the dark began gathering. Her steps became easier, and I felt the tension begin to seep out of her. We walked along the forest path that wasn't very long and soon opened out into a small clearing where I had laid out a rug and a small picnic. The area was lit liberally with coloured ‘fairy jars’. She looked around slowly with a smile. I sat myself down and tugged on her arm, gently pulling her down towards me. She sat down next to me and started instantly tugging on her pink dress, trying to cover up more of her bare legs. I instantly found my mind going blank. I couldn't think of a single coherent phrase I could say. ‘ This is really nice.’ Sarah said gently, dreamily, as she looked up at the stars. ‘Well, this is my happy place.’ I said, fiddling pointlessly with the corner of the blanket. ‘Well it's beautiful.’ she said simply, her eyes flickering down to my face and her smile made my stomach flip-flop. ‘Drink?’ I asked, holding out a glass of rose. She nodded and took the glass but frowned as she saw me pick up a can of Red Bull. I shrugged to the unasked question. ‘I'm driving.’ we lapsed into silence again. ‘So how's Norma?’ I asked honestly, struggling to find something to stay when sitting alongside this beautiful girl. She looked up at me. ‘Hideous.’ she said simply, ‘ she hates being cared for, she's been trying to get me to leave since I got here.’ ‘But you're still here.’ ‘She needs me.’ she said with a shrug, ‘as much as she doesn't want me,’ ‘Is there nobody else to help you?’ I instantly regretted the question as she looked away, her beautiful green eyes sparkling with tears. ‘Not really no…not anymore.’ ‘What happened to your mom?’ I asked. I knew what had happened to her dad, but I knew she didn't. She shook her head gently and looked at me. Her beautiful green eyes sparkled with threatening tears, ‘Not a first date,’ ‘Then you’ll have to agree to another date with me.’ she gave a tiny smile, but it wasn't real. ‘Brownie?’ I asked, lifting the tub. She picked up the chocolate brownie gently. So you don't want to talk about your family, and you claim that there is nothing you want to tell me about your life.’ ‘My life is a f*****g mess. I am unemployed living in my grandma's flat and nobody has even noticed that I was fired and evicted.’ she said quietly, she was pulling tiny pieces off the brownie in a distracted sort of way, clearly not really wanting any. ‘So what do you want to talk about?’ she shrugged, ‘Why don't we talk about you?’ I snorted panic clawing at my chest, ‘Nah, we don't want to do that?’ I said lightly, ‘I want to know.’ she said. ‘What?’ she shrugged, ‘Everything.’ ‘ That might take a while.’ she smiled, ‘So start.’ I sighed.I wasn't comfortable in this. I didn't talk about myself to girls, not the real me anyway, and I didn't want to lie to her. I couldn't do that. ‘Okay how about this…what do you do for a living?’ ‘You know that.’ ‘No, collecting rent clearly isn't your whole job, since you suck at it. Do you realize I still haven't paid the rent yet?’ ‘Your distracting.’ I said simply before I sighed, ‘I work on the estate. We collect rent, maintain the properties, sort out issues,’ ‘You like it.? I took a minute. This was tricky, ‘I love my family, we all live here, and I wouldn't change that for the world. We all work together and yeah…. Yeah, I think I love my job.’ ‘So you live with your family?’ ‘Sort of I don't live in the big house, I live in a smaller house in the grounds with a couple of my brothers.’ ‘How many brothers do you have?’ she asked absently, licking her fingertips. ‘Well it's complicated, they aren't all actually my brothers, but actually in the house it's just me. Carl and Ash and Derek has a room there, but he doesn't really live there anymore, not that you'd know it the amount of time I’m forced to listen to him and Jess screwing. I hate sharing a wall with them. ‘ Sarah selected a blondie and resumed twisting off and discreetly placing them in her mouth. ‘Sounds like bottom or men behaving badly or something.’ ‘I’m actually pretty domesticated.’ ‘I can picture you in a pinny.’ she said, the playfulness clear in her voice, ‘I think you're mocking me, but I do have a baking apron.’ I said, putting on my stern voice. ‘You have a baking apron?’ she said. ‘Yes, and if you mock that I'm taking back my creations,’ I said vaguely, gesturing at the picnic, ‘You baked this?’ she asked, holding up her blondie. I nodded, she smiled, ‘will you marry me?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘I was joking.’ ‘I wasn't.’ She laughed, shaking her head. I smelt the tiny waft of the green apple scent from her hair and that simple scent made my c**k grow hard. I shifted myself awkwardly trying to cover this and hoped she didn't notice. ‘So we dated.’ she said simply lifting her glass or rose, looking at me, her bright green eyes sparkling her gaze intense. ‘Yeah, you were like seventeen, so I would have been nineteen. I met you at the shop I was fixing the sink, and you came in with an ice cream, and f**k that ice cream.’ ‘What?’ she asked, clearly baffled, ‘You…you were f*****g licking it. It was sending my mind to some very dirty places and I was trying to have a conversation with you, and you were f*****g licking this ice cream,’ she laughed f**k if that didn't make my mind go to dirty places too.’ Norma had never been fond of me, and so we couldn't date. We went to the park, we went for walks, we bought donuts, we spent as much time together as we could without dating because we weren't allowed to do that. Hell, I even spent one of my days off in the laundrette just to see you.’ ‘So we were friends,’ she said simply. ‘No. We were not friends and I should not have to tell you that. This is your past, and it is f****d up that you don't know what we were.’ I rubbed a hand across my forehead, needing to be out of her gaze. I felt Sarah’s hand grip mine, this made tingles travel through my body from this simple innocent gesture. I lifted my eyes to look at her, and she was looking at me intently, ‘I think I'm starting to get it,’ she said gently. ‘ So I'm not giving you the ick yet then ?’ I said gently, ‘Not yet’ she said softly. I leaned over the distance and gently, oh so gently, I pressed my lips to hers. I felt the wolf inside me raging, pulling at me desperate for more, but I wanted to kiss her, I wanted to taste her. I fought so hard to keep myself under control and be gentle. I didn't want to scare her. I suddenly realized that she was kissing me back. She wasn't moving away, she was kissing me. That single thought made my wolf growl and I pressed my lips firmer to hers and I could taste her. This taste made my wolf insane. She tasted so delicious. He was desperate for more. I felt Sarah’s hands slip gently into my hair and I heard her moan gently, oh god that sound. The more I touched and kissed her the more I wanted, but I could smell her and I could smell her arousal. This made my wolf go mad inside me. I fought to restrain him. I couldn't push her. No, I wouldn't ruin this, I couldn't.
