CHPATER 1 -Marriage talk
🌸 Character Intro ✨ Female Lead (FL) Name: Aarvi Mehra Age : 21 Backstory: Born into wealth, orphaned at 10 after a suspicious accident. Raised by manipulative relatives who saw her as a pawn for property. At 21, she is forced toward marriage with a corrupt inspector. Personality: Innocent, trapped in a gilded cage. Curious, doubtful, longing for freedom. “ Destiny had bound her in a forced marriage with a stranger — an innocent girl chained to vows she never thought she would make.” 📖 Chapter 1 – Marriage Talk “Aarvi! Aarvi!” Her aunt’s shrill voice pierced through the silence of the house, rough and impatient. Aarvi came running up the stairs, her dupatta trailing behind her, heart pounding from the sudden call. “Yes, aunt… you were calling?” she asked softly, trying to catch her breath. Her aunt folded her arms, eyes narrowing with disdain. “Humph. I thought I had a deaf person in this house.” “I’m sorry, aunty. I was studying,” Aarvi replied, her voice trembling. “Leave it. Go make lunch. And today, make something special — my brother and his family are coming to see you. Don’t create any drama. And wear clean clothes. Don’t show up like a beggar in front of them.” The words hit Aarvi like a slap. Tears welled in her eyes, but before she could speak, her aunt barked again: “Why are you staring at my face? Your mother isn’t here to do the work — you have to do it. Now hurry up!” Aarvi lowered her gaze and walked to the kitchen. Her heart was heavy, her mind spiraling. “Why, Mom… Dad… why did you both leave me alone in this cruel world? And now this marriage to that man… that disgusting man who only has lust in his eyes. His mother hates me, she has hurt me so many times. If I marry him, my life will be worse than hell.” The kitchen smelled faintly of spices and smoke. Pots clattered as she tried to focus, but her hands shook. Lost in her thoughts, Aarvi almost poured boiling water onto her hand. Suddenly, her uncle rushed in, pulling her hand back. “Aarvi! Where are you lost? Are you fine?” he asked, concern flashing in his eyes. Before Aarvi could answer, her aunt stormed in. “Drama again! Just to avoid work, you pretend like this. Even if you burn yourself, you’ll still have to finish everything. Understand, you useless girl!” “Shut up, Amita!” her uncle snapped. “Why are you shouting at me for this so-callebitchch?” her aunt retorted, rolling her eyes. Her uncle’s voice hardened. “Enough. Go get ready — your brother’s family is on the way.” With a huff, her aunt left the room. Her uncle turned back to Aarvi, his tone softer. “Do the work quickly and carefully. Harshit will get mad if things aren’t perfect. You know how much he cares about you.” Aarvi hesitated, her lips trembling. “Un… uncle, I… I don’t want to—” But before she could finish, his expression darkened. “Don’t. Don’t forget to put the sweet in the fridge. And don’t dare speak such words again. You know very well what will happen if you do.” Her uncle walked away, leaving Aarvi frozen in the kitchen. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she whispered to herself, “Maybe destiny has its own plan… God will make everything right in the end.” The clock ticked louder in her ears as she prepared the dishes, her hands trembling with every movement. She tried to focus, but her mind kept drifting back to her parents — their laughter, their warmth, the way her mother’s hand always brushed her hair before bed. Now, only silence and cruelty surrounded her. She chopped vegetables mechanically, each slice echoing like a drumbeat of fate. The aroma of boiling lentils filled the air, but to Aarvi it smelled of suffocation. “They wanted me to smile, to serve, to obey. But inside, I am breaking.” As she placed the sweet dish in the fridge, she heard faint voices outside the window. Curious, she leaned closer. Her aunt was speaking on the phone, her tone sharp and secretive. “Yes, yes… everything is ready. Don’t worry, she won’t refuse. Even if she tries, we’ll make sure she agrees. After all, where else can she go? She’s trapped.” Aarvi’s breath caught. Her aunt’s words confirmed her worst fears — This marriage was not a choice, it was a trap. Her tears blurred her vision, but she forced herself to stay quiet. She couldn’t let them know she had overheard. She wiped her eyes and looked at her reflection in the steel pot. Her face was pale, her eyes swollen, but somewhere in that reflection she saw a shadow of her mother’s courage. After an hour ...... The sound of a car horn outside jolted her back. Her aunt’s brother’s family had arrived. Aarvi wiped her tears quickly, her heart pounding. She knew tonight would change everything. The front door creaked open, voices filled the hall. Aarvi’s aunt rushed forward with fake sweetness, greeting them warmly. Aarvi stood hidden in the kitchen, clutching the edge of the counter. Then she heard a syrupy voice, dripping with false affection: “Where is my soon‑to‑be daughter‑in‑law?” Footsteps approached the kitchen. A shadow fell across the doorway, and then the woman’s eyes landed on Aarvi. Her lips curled into a cruel smile. “Oh… who is this beggar? Oops, I almost forgot — this is my soon‑to‑be daughter‑in‑law.” The words were spat out with a disgusting look, each syllable heavy with insult. Aarvi’s chest tightened, her fingers trembling against the counter. She wanted to disappear, but she knew she couldn’t. The living room filled with murmurs as her aunt’s brother’s family settled in, their eyes scanning the house with judgment. Aarvi stepped out hesitantly, her dupatta clutched tightly in her hands, her heart hammering against her ribs. Her beauty was undeniable — delicate features, luminous eyes, and a quiet grace that made her stand out even in her simple clothes. But instead of admiration, the women mocked her, and the men’s gazes lingered too long, heavy with entitlement. Her aunt’s sister‑in‑law gave her a long, mocking look. “So this is the girl? Hmph. She doesn’t even know how to stand properly. Look at her posture — like a servant dragged in from the street.” Aarvi’s cheeks burned. She lowered her gaze, wishing the floor would swallow her whole. The inspector’s mother leaned back on the sofa, her bangles clinking as she crossed her arms. “And this is supposed to be my son’s bride? She looks weak. Will she even be able to handle a household? Or is she only good for crying?” Her aunt laughed nervously, eager to please. “Oh, she’s obedient. She does everything without complaint. You won’t find a more submissive girl anywhere.” The words stabbed Aarvi deeper than any insult. Submissive. Obedient. A pawn to be traded. The inspector’s cousin’s eyes lingered on her, a sly smile tugging at his lips. In his mind, he thought, “My brother is so lucky… how will he even control himself at night? If she were mine, I couldn’t control myself even in the day.” (The inspector is the one with whom her aunt has fixed her marriage.) But in front of everyone, he masked his thoughts with a false grin and said lightly, “She’s not that bad, aunty. In fact, she looks quite decent.” Aarvi’s throat tightened. She wanted to scream, to defend herself, but her voice was trapped. Her aunt’s sharp gaze pinned her down like chains. The inspector’s mother leaned forward, her tone dripping with disdain. “Well, whether she likes it or not, she will marry my son. Destiny has already decided. And once she enters our house, she will learn her place.” Aarvi’s fingers trembled against her dupatta. Her beauty, once her only shield, had become another chain. Her fate was being sealed in front of her eyes, each word and each stare another lock on the cage she could not escape. ------- Her fate was standing right in front of her… would destiny open a door to freedom, or lock her forever in silence?
