CHAPTER 4

Rosalith POV

Vladimir waited behind and made sure we both got inside the dining room at the same time. He stood by the door while father happily beckoned to me to have a seat.

“Father,” I called and he smiled before instructing me to sit down. The dining room hasn't changed at all.

“You look so thin Rosalith. Are you even eating at all?” Father asked and I parted my lips to speak.

“I told you what was happening…” I began but Father cut me off which literally surprised me. He is not even allowing me to explain.

“No. Don't let us go back to the past again Rosalith. It's a good thing that he died and you didn't give birth to any child.” Father said and I am not sure if those words are actually coming from a good point of view.

“Even if you had given birth. I doubt it will make any difference.” He said and took a handful of meat in his mouth.

I didn't touch my food but I watched Father eat. I can't even remember the last time I had a meal like this. I always get served in the dungeon or my room.

“You know. I was actually happy when I heard what happened to Kayden. He didn't send what he promised when I eventually married you off to him and the stupid guy won't tell me what was actually wrong.” Father said and continued.

“Last month, we got attacked by the witches. Among all the packs that got attacked, we suffered the most damage and if not for Vlad, I don't know what would have happened. Maybe I will be dead by now.” Father explained.

“The moon goddess will not let it happen. I am sorry to hear that.” I said and folded my hands on my thighs.

“It was then I found out Kayden actually sent the weak werewolves to me as tribute for marrying you. That guy will never wake up from that coma. No wolf has ever survived that” Father said and I felt nervous because Father didn't look like someone who cares about me.

He is not even asking me any questions.

I quickly picked up the glass cup and drank some water. I actually feel uneasy knowing I somehow contributed to Kayden's misery.

“But I actually have something else to discuss with you. Because somehow, Alpha Jared decided to help me out but without you, it won't be possible.”

“What do I need to do?” I asked, even though I know this might not be the best reply.

“You will marry Alpha Jared, Rosalith,” Father said and a bile rose in my throat.

I almost threw up but I swallowed back.

I think I might have heard wrong.

Was this the reason he wanted me back?

“What do you mean Father?” I asked to be sure I am not the one who didn't hear him well.

“Our Pack is going to benefit from this Rose. Just think about what we will get if you agree to this. Not only that, he doesn't care about your past because I already let him know. It's as if things are actually working in my favour.” He said and I bit the inside of my cheeks, my heart thudding loudly against my chest.

“Are you being serious right now Father? I came back just this morning from a marriage I never wan” I couldn't finish my sentence because Vlad is here.

He will learn about my wrecked marriage and I won't be able to face him again with my chin high. I never wanted him to see my weak side.

“Tell Vlad to leave the room. I need to speak to you alone.” I informed Father.

“Okay fine. Vlad” Father called his name and I heard the door click shut.

“Rosalith. Are you trying to defy my order right now?” Father asked, not giving me a chance to properly reply but I will not take that.

“I do not want this father. All my life, I have lived according to your rules and obeyed every instruction. I married Kayden when I was just 17 and I haven't even discovered my wolf. He beats me every day Father but did you even hear me out?” I break out fighting back the tears that threaten to spill.

“Did you ever call me back even after sending tons of messages to you. You ruined me!” I cried out and Father stood up from his seat.

“Then you shouldn't have been a girl!” He yelled and my entire world froze.

Did he seriously say this to me?

Again!

“Did you even know things would have been easier if you were a male? You got my powers but where will you eventually end up? In a man's bed and this is why females are useless.” Father said a cackled laughter escaped my lips.

“You can't lead the pack Rosalith. You are pathetic and weak and this is why Kayden could control you. Your mother's death was also because of you. She wouldn't have tried to conceive again if you were a male” Father said, hitting the table but I am beyond angry right now.

My heart and throat hurt so bad but I don't want to cry. So I held it in with my hands clenched, my knuckles almost turning white.

“Don't blame me, father. I didn't kill her!” I yelled back and a lone tear escaped my eyes which I cleaned immediately. I won't allow him to see that.

He looked taken aback by my outburst but he didn't back down.

“You keep letting the guilt eat me up but the truth is, your obsession with wanting a male child leads to her death. You brought in different women and had s*x with them hoping they would conceive while mother is still alive. She knew everything you did. You are the one who drove Mother to her death!”

A slap echoed in the room. Father hit me on the face but I didn't feel the pain I was actually expecting.

“You can't talk to your father like that.” He said and I let out a laugh which surprised him.

“At least Kayden hits better than you,” I said before storming out of the room.

I won't cry in front of him.. I won't do that but when I got outside, I felt the pain intensify and I collapsed on my knees. I couldn't catch everything today and the tears kept pouring out.

I guess I have reached my breaking point but no.

I am strong and I know I will definitely overcome this. I clean my face with the back of my palm and make my way outside. I know where to find peace, the mountains. They are where my peace is.

I stepped into the compound when I saw the bike stop in front of me and I was forced to stop. Black leather boots, black gloves, a black shirt with a helmet in his hand. I know who that is. He got down from his bike and gave me the helmet.

“Let's go.” He said and I looked at him as if I just saw a ghost.

Why does he have to look at me with that face that says I KNOW EVERYTHING.

“I am not coming with you,” I said and pushed the helmet back at him but he refused to take it.

“You can't go there with the car.” He said and I realised he already knows where I am going m

“Who said I was going to use a car? I can walk fine.” I said and tossed the helmet at him.

“I need to be with you. It's your father's command.” Vlad said but I didn't believe that bullshit. He voluntarily came here and my guts kept telling me he somehow heard our conversation

However, I want to hope that is not the case. I tried walking away but this time, Vladimir's hand caught my waist and I let out a shaky breath.

“It's dangerous outside. Just come with me” He said and I looked at him confused because something about him got Zara excited.
