CHAPTER 3

Rosalith POV

I didn't waste any more time as I dashed inside the bathroom. I scrubbed Kayden's scent off my body with soap and water. For the first time in two years, I decided to take out my makeup box and use it. I just wanted to look beautiful for the last time in the Pack. After Vladimir's rejection two years ago, I never thought of texting him and he didn't either.

Vladimir only saw me off while I was getting my luggage to follow Kayden to his pack. He didn't come to my wedding.

I wish I had called him back then to at least save me this one last time but I refused and that actually led to my misery and I will be seeing him today.

I wore fitted jeans and put on my white polo shirt. I didn't really feel like wearing a dress today because I am afraid a lot might happen like Isabella coming in with the elders to question my innocence. I don't know what father planned but it will not be easy to leave the Pack.

Taking in a deep breath, I sat down in my room, praying silently to the moon goddess to just see me through the night. Then, I heard the commotion outside.

“That can't be true. He didn't tell me any of this. I will ask Luna Rosalith myself if this is true.”

I don't really know what they are arguing about but that is Isabella's voice and judging by the voice which followed after, I realised the elders are here.

“You are not in the position to speak Isabella.” It was her father who cautioned her.

I couldn't eavesdrop more when I suddenly heard a knock on the door. I pulled my luggage out of the way and stood up. When I pulled the door open, a maid was standing at the door.

“The Elders seek your presence” she informed me and I told her to lead the way.

We got to the sitting room and all eyes were on me.

“The document was signed a month ago but it seems the Alpha didn't inform the Elders.” I heard the familiar deep voice and air left my lungs.

I know my ears can't be playing tricks on me. I heard it loud and clear to be sure he was already here.

“Luna Rosalith. We received the divorce papers and upon evaluation, we realised both you and Alpha Kayden signed the papers. We only want to know if this is….” The rest of their words fade into the air.

I looked up and scanned everyone's face, there was no point in searching much because his scent crawled towards me and my eyes fell on him.

“Vlad…” I almost whispered but sealed my lips when all his attention was actually on the paper the elders were holding.

The time stood still when he suddenly raised his head and his eyes fell on him. My eyes took in his appearance.

A black round-neck shirt that clung to the walls of his muscles. A clean-shaved jaw with his long hair softly combed to reach the nape of his neck. He looked even more handsome but it was enough looking at him.

“Luna Rosalith” The elder called and I quickly looked at them.

“Is it true that you already filed for a divorce?” The elders asked and I looked at Vladimir who gave me a sign to say yes.

“Yes.” I lied even though I don't know what Father's plan was.

“Okay. I think you are free to leave.” The elder said, surprising me.

“Thank you” Vlad said and the elders left the room one after the other but Isabella refused to leave.

She walked towards me at the speed of light but before she could, I held her hand and pushed her away.

“What! I know you tried to kill him. You are a murderer.” Isabella yelled, frustration etched in her voice.

I didn't even know Vlad was already by my side. Good that I stopped Isabella from attacking me. I walked towards Isabella and leaned towards her.

“It will do you no good if I inform everyone about what has actually been going on. Don't pose a threat to me Isabella or I might just send you to where Kayden is” I warned and straightened my back.

She glared at me with her hands clenched, not saying a word.

“I will get my backpack inside and get my bag,” I informed Vladimir but he stepped in my way.

“I will get it instead,” he said but I shook my head.

“It's fine. Let me do it” I protested and climbed the stairs.

Getting inside the room, my heart beat frantically in my chest as I held on to the luggage.

“You will be fine Rosalith. Kayden is not here. You are safe.” I whispered and took a look at the room. There is actually nothing I have taken.

I left the room and Vladimir took the luggage inside the car's boot. He started the engine and drove out of the pack. I held on to the necklace around my neck. Father once told me it was a gift from Mother before she died. This ring is part of what kept me going and my wolf Zara.

Vlad continued driving, neither of us saying a word. Things definitely changed between us. And by now, he should probably have a wife and find his mate.

I looked out at the beautiful city but part of me Kayden still caged. I am afraid I am going to scream in my sleep tonight though it only happens once in two months.

“Can we find a beach nearby? I would like to go there before the moon comes out.” I finally break the silence.

“There is one located at the bridge between Nightfall Pack and BloodFang Pack,” Vladimir informed me and I nodded.

I parted my lips to speak again but no words came out. It is better to remain silent than to say something that will leave me with regret.

The car stopped when we got to a nearby beach and I got down. I listened to the sound of the waves until it calmed me. When I informed Vladimir to start the car. He gave me suggestions that we might need to sleep and make a stop at the hotel because it will take him 7 hours to arrive at Father's Pack as it is already past 7 p.m.

“Just keep driving. I don't care how long.” I told him. “I can't wait to be home,” I added the last part in my head and closed my eyes.

“Is Rosalith awake now? I have urgent matters to discuss with her” My eyes fluttered open when I heard my father's voice. I looked around the room to see that I was actually back in my old room.

I remember sleeping inside the car but I didn't know how to get into bed.

“Alpha. I think it will be best if she sleeps for now.” I heard Vladimir say and it dawned on me that I am actually back.

“I told you Alpha Jared wants to meet her quickly. Who knows maybe he will take a liking towards her. She needs to heal fast” Father said and my legs shook when I heard what he said.

I need to heal?

And who is Alpha Jared

“I think it was too early because she came back just this morning. She needs to regain her strength and…” I pulled the door open and Vladimir swallowed the rest of his words.

“What are you talking about?” I found myself asking and my father walked towards.

I am just seeing him after two years.

“Come Rosalith. Let's talk over a meal” Father said and I swallowed when he walked away without even giving me a hug.

He didn't even ask me how I am doing but then, maybe we will be talking over the meal. It's too early to jump to conclusions.

“Are you sure you can go now?” Vlad asked and I hated the tone he used.

“I am totally fine Vlad. You don't really have to care about this.” I said and turned the doorknob.

“I am your guard and…”

“Not anymore, remember.” I cut in. “I came back just last night and you stopped being my protector two years ago,” I informed him and he kept quiet.

That is just how it has always been so it's not a surprise to see him acting this way.

“I will brush my teeth and come outside to meet my father,” I said and shut the door, breathing frantically because even though I am angry, Zara my wolf doesn't feel the same

“He looks hurt,” Zara said and I shook my head.

“You can't even know what he is thinking. He rejected us, try to remember.” I told her and made my way inside the bathroom.
