Chapter 16 – A New Battle
The drive back to London was filled with quiet conversation and hopeful smiles.
For the first time in weeks, Ethan and Amelia felt like they were moving forward instead of looking back.
When they arrived at Blackwood Technologies, Daniel and Sophie were waiting in the lobby.
Seeing Amelia, Sophie rushed over and hugged her tightly.
"We missed you so much!"
Amelia smiled through happy tears.
"I missed all of you too."
Daniel shook Ethan's hand.
"Good to have you both back. But we have a serious problem."
Ethan's expression became serious.
"The takeover?"
Daniel nodded.
"Yes. A rival technology company, NovaTech Innovations, has offered to buy enough shares to take control of Blackwood Technologies. Several investors are considering the deal."
An emergency board meeting was called.
"The company is vulnerable after the recent scandal," one director explained. "If we lose more investor confidence, we'll lose control."
Ethan stood.
"We're not selling this company."
"But we need a strategy," another director replied.
Everyone fell silent.
Then Amelia spoke.
"I have an idea."
The room turned toward her.
She walked to the presentation screen.
"What if we reveal the new AI project we've been developing? The one scheduled for next year."
Daniel looked surprised.
"It isn't finished yet."
"It doesn't have to be," Amelia replied. "We only need to show investors the vision and the progress we've already made. If they believe in our future, they won't sell their shares."
The board exchanged thoughtful glances.
Ethan smiled proudly.
"Let's do it."
For the next several days, the entire company worked around the clock.
Designers, engineers, and marketers joined forces to prepare the biggest investor presentation in the company's history.
Amelia coordinated every department, proving once again why she had earned her position.
Watching her lead the team, many employees who had once doubted her now admired her.
One evening, Sophie smiled at Daniel.
"I guess we were wrong about her."
Daniel nodded.
"She's exactly the leader this company needed."
The night before the presentation, Ethan found Amelia standing alone on the rooftop terrace.
"Nervous?" he asked.
"A little."
He took her hand.
"No matter what happens tomorrow..."
She looked at him.
"...I'm proud of you."
Amelia smiled.
"And I'm proud of us."
Together, they looked out over the lights of London.
Tomorrow would decide the future of the company.
And perhaps, the future they had dreamed of together.
