Chapter 18 – The Proposal

Two weeks after Blackwood Technologies overcame the takeover attempt, life finally returned to normal.

The company was stronger than ever.

Employees were smiling again, new projects were underway, and Amelia had been promoted to Director of Strategic Operations—a role she earned through her hard work and leadership.

One Friday evening, Ethan asked her to keep her schedule free.

"I have a surprise for you," he said.

Amelia smiled. "Another business meeting?"

Ethan laughed.

"Not this time."

As the sun began to set, Ethan drove Amelia to a beautiful rooftop overlooking the London skyline.

The rooftop was decorated with soft fairy lights, white roses, and candles. A violinist played a gentle melody while the city lights sparkled below.

Amelia looked around in amazement.

"It's beautiful."

"It still doesn't compare to you," Ethan replied.

She blushed.

"You've become quite the romantic."

"I learned from the best."

Daniel, Sophie, and a few close friends stepped out from behind the decorations, smiling.

"We've been keeping this secret for weeks," Sophie said with a grin.

Amelia turned to Ethan, confused.

"What is all this?"

Ethan took a deep breath.

"From the day you walked into my office, you challenged me."

He smiled warmly.

"You taught me that success means nothing if you have no one to share it with."

Amelia's eyes filled with tears.

"You believed in me when I had forgotten how to believe in myself."

Slowly, Ethan knelt on one knee.

He opened a small velvet box, revealing a sparkling diamond ring.

"Amelia Carter..."

"You changed my life."

"You became my best friend, my greatest strength, and the love of my life."

He looked into her eyes.

"Will you marry me?"

For a moment, Amelia couldn't speak.

Happy tears streamed down her face as she covered her mouth.

Then she laughed softly and nodded.

"Yes."

"Yes, Ethan."

"Yes, I'll marry you."

The rooftop erupted with cheers and applause.

Ethan slipped the ring onto her finger before standing to embrace her.

As fireworks lit up the London sky, they shared a kiss surrounded by the people who had supported them through every challenge.

Daniel smiled at Sophie.

"I had a feeling she'd say yes."

Sophie laughed.

"There was never any doubt."

As Ethan held Amelia close, he whispered,

"This is only the beginning."

She smiled.

"Our forever starts now."
