Chapter 2

1551 Words
Tiger had been with Gaius for decades. He could tell when Gaius, his master, had a plot up his sleeve. He could also tell when Gaius was troubled, he knew everything about his master. They could communicate with each other through the mind. Tiger could understand and see Gaius’s vision but was never really affected, because he wasn’t the actual person with the vision. Tiger remembered the day Gaius rescued him from the cold hands of death, and would forever be grateful. He was bitten by a poisonous snake in the bush decades ago. And then he lost his faith, dying in the thick forest since there was no one to help him suck out the poison from his feet. All of a sudden, Gaius was the only one who came out of nowhere and promised to help him if he would join his army on the quest to conquer the human race. Due to the pain Tiger was feeling from the snake bite at that time and the fact that he didn’t want to die untimely. He accepted to join Gaius’s army, not knowing Gaius was a werewolf. And just at that point, Gaius bit into Tiger’s neck, sucking his blood and making him a werewolf just like himself. A FEW MINUTES LATER Tiger suddenly opened his eyes, which now became like those of a wolf, and realized he wasn’t dead. He could see Gaius’s full form and noticed he was no longer human but a werewolf. Tiger touched his fangs and stared at his sharp claws, which were formally smooth hands. He wasn’t so happy about his werewolf transformation, but at least Tiger felt he was privileged to be given a second chance to live, never dying again. Ever since then, he owed his devotion to Gaius and vowed to follow him wherever he went. Fighting by his side till the end. Tiger came back to reality. He needed to quickly help his master get out of this disturbing mood he was in. Tiger swore to help get enough information about this young girl who troubled his master. Tiger felt Gaius had seen the future and knew it would be terrifying for them if this young girl was allowed to live. Tiger moved towards Gaius- his master, who had soon become calm and promised to gather enough information about the teenager so that Gaius could have his palm of flesh. Gaius heard what his bodyguard, Tiger, had said and smiled sheepishly. He was happy and comforted that, finally, he would destroy Jane before she grew up to become more powerful and then hinder all his years of calculation, his years of plotting and planning against the human race. To kill and take over. Gaius wanted the world to be filled with only werewolves and governed by werewolves living in every nook and cranny of the world. While humans were wiped away or used as food. And now that he was almost close to achieving his goal, nobody was going to stop him, not even this Jane in his vision. Gaius vowed in his heart. Tiger, who could sense and understand what his master was thinking, got ready to go on the mission his master had sent him. And so Tiger transformed into a terrifying black-looking werewolf and raced out of the cave towards the abode of the humans to figure out where Jane was staying. Tiger didn’t know her name though, but he was searching for that face in the vision of his master. Like a stray dog, he journeyed along the face of the earth. ************************************************************************************* A few weeks into Tiger searching for Jane’s hometown, and more information about her, he finally found her farming alongside her father on their farm in Asia. Tiger got to know that Jane’s hometown was in the trench clan of Asia. Her family wasn’t noticed due to their poor state. Tiger mocked Jane and knew it would be easy for his master to attack and kill her. “She is just a child!”, Tiger thought. In his werewolf form, Tiger decided to go further, close to Jane’s home, to sniff out more evidence and information which he would bring to Gaius. He knew Gaius would be so pleased if he brought back so much useful information about the young girl( Jane). Who knows Gaius might bestow more powers on him? Tiger thought again. The next day, Tiger went to Jane's again to get more helpful information about the young teenager, for Gaius to be tactical about killing her without anyone noticing. But he wasn’t so smart this time. As he moved deceitfully through the bushes which were closer to Jane’s house, Jane’s mother sighted the wolf from inside the house when it passed by their small cubicle trying to go towards the farmland where Jane was farming. Not knowing that it was a werewolf who could understand what she was saying, Jane’s mother yelled out to Jane who was on the farm harvesting some herbs for her Baba. Jane’s mother screamed out her daughter's name again, who was unaware of the werewolf’s presence. “ Jane my daughter!!! Run as fast as those legs can carry you! There’s a wolf close to the farm. “ “C’mon! Quickly into the house.” Jane finally heard what her mother had said and suddenly turned back to see the werewolf staring at her, but the wolf couldn’t come into the farm. Jane got scared but soon remembered the local bow and arrow. She had used to kill a bush rabbit for Baba. She immediately gathered all the herbs she had plucked for Baba and also the bush rabbit. She placed the herbs and bush meat in a raffia bag, which she hung on her neck. And finally, Jane grabbed the bow and arrow, ready to fire a shot at Tiger if he dares threaten to come close to hurt her. And then she ran out of the farm, still clinging tight to her locally-made bow and arrow. “ Jane! Hurry up .” Jane’s mother called out to Jane one more time, for her to be faster with her legs. So, that was how Tiger got to know that the young girl’s name was Jane. This young girl had been a terror and disturbance to his master( Gaius). He growled at her and considered running after Jane and then killing her with his claws pierced into her heart. But on second thought he didn’t want to disobey his master’s command. And so he angrily left. Getting prepared to come back with his master to finally finish what he had started. Jane finally ran into the house, stressed and tired. She sat down on a wooden chair in the small cubicle they all lived in as one big happy family. While trying to catch her breath, she spoke to her mother ; “ Water! Mama, Water!! “ Jane’s thirsty self cried out. The suffering and hardship in the village had made Jane look so frail and skinny. She was light-skinned, but due to suffering and poverty that eluded her family, Jane’s complexion became black, like charcoal. Jane’s mother finally brought the drinking water and gave it to Jane to drink, so she could quench her thirst. Jane gulped down the cold jug of water in full force, breathing satisfactorily. “ Should I get you more ?” Jane’s mother asked further, seeing how satisfied Jane was with the first jug of water. “ Thanks, mama! But I’m fine now.” Jane handed the herbs and bush meat to her mother to prepare for Baba and the rest of the family. “ Please, Next time, don’t go alone to the farm without your father!” Jane’s mother gave a stern warning to her only daughter, Jane. Jane was quite surprised at her mother’s words. Because she has always been going there alone to cultivate and harvest crops herself without Baba. But she knew her mother’s words were always final and no one could change her mind. And so Jane responded to her mother, agreeing to her mother’s warning. Jane knew her mother loved her so much and that was the reason for her statement. Jane thought back to the wolf she saw at the farm. She was really lucky this time. Jane noticed the anger on the face of the wolf, which could have torn her into shreds if it wanted to. But also there was something strange that attracted her to the Black Wolf. The eye of the wolf was a bit weird, not like any normal wolf she watched on their worn-out television screen, which she would have to hit several times before a channel clearly showed. Jane remembered the wolf again. As it stared at her, Jane could feel a weird sensation. She felt a dead man's presence, which was quite strange because she was just staring at an angry black wolf. While Jane was still thinking about the mystery of the black wolf, her mother called out. “ Jane love! Come and help in preparing the bush meat, while I cook the vegetables.” “ Baba will soon be home.” Jane’s mother spoke, ending her statement. Jane’s mother's words brought her back to reality. “ Okay! Mama,” Jane replied.
