Chapter Nineteen

1234 Words
Thanksgiving Day Zander's Hideout Zander's POV I had been kicked out of the hideout so that Stephanie could surprise me. The weird thing was that I left because Stephanie asked me too. I was at the top of the Appalachian Mountains thinking. Stephanie had been so understanding lately. Stephanie sat by my side going over maps, plans, and making sure that all of the men were being well fed. I was trying to get my head back into getting revenge on my family. I found the more time that I spent with Stephanie the less that I wanted to go after my family. They deserved to be punished for what they did to me. I was tired of being treated like a second rate person to them. They never even tried to find me. They even kept the fact that I was alive from my brother. And now they left the country without even giving me a second thought. I also had a secret weapon in place in Greece. No one knew that I had found out where the family was spending the Thanksgiving holiday, my parents were the reason for my pain and suffering. Maybe I needed to concentrate on getting them and not the whole family. I would try to capture my parents separately because mates, were always weaker when they were away from one another. My phone rang; I looked at the caller I.D., smiled and said, "Hello, my love." "Dinner is ready. Are you close by, my darling?" "Yes, I shall be there momentarily," I said hanging up. Thank goodness I had the foresight to change into slacks and an olive green button-down long-sleeve shirt before I left the hideout. At least I would not have to take the extra time to change. Stephanie's POV I was worried about Zander. Zander seemed more agitated lately, distant from me as well, and consumed by his revenge on his parents. I was trying to be supportive and understanding but, Zander was not telling me what was going on. I hope that tonight after dinner and the little surprise I had planned he would tell me what was going on. Everyone had gathered now all we needed was Zander so that we could start the feast. Zander arrived shortly after I put the last dish on the table. Zander pulled out my chair with a smile. I smile back at him lovingly. Even though Zander was out for revenge did not change the fact that we were mates. I loved Zander and there was no changing that. I knew that Quinten and King Nicholas were trying to figure out a way to get me away from Zander without having me hurt myself but, I did not think that was possible. Zander seemed to be changing but, not enough for me to have hope that he would peacefully accept defeat. I had made my decision; if Zander would not back down from his path of vengeance then I would sacrifice myself for the greater good. I had written out my will and given it to Marissa before she left to go to the hideout in the Rocky Mountains. Marissa had frowned at me but, did not say a word. I had also written Crystal a letter telling her why I did what I had to do but, I was hoping that Crystal would not have to read it. I knew that Crystal was probably going to end up getting the letter whether I wanted her to or not. I just did not see myself making it out of this alive no matter how this played out. Marissa's POV I was gathering an army to help King Nicholas when the time came to take Zander out. I was not happy that Stephanie had written a will but, I could not blame her for doing so. I had not told Quinten about the will because Stephanie had asked me not to. Stephanie did not want people to know what she was planning and that was fine by me. Crystal and Quinten had enough to worry about as it was I did not want them to have to add anything else to that list. I hoped that they were both staying safe while they were away on holiday. My mate had joined me about a week ago so that it would not look so suspicious. Stephanie and I were Skyping almost every day because Stephanie needed someone to talk to. We always had safe conversations; like about clothing, her coming to visit, or the weather. I know that sounds bad but, it kept her mind off of Zander and what was happening there. I could tell that all of this was taking a toll on Stephanie but, she was holding strong and I was proud of her. As soon as Zander had formulated a final plan I could be of more help to Stephanie but, until then we were stuck in limbo. Clarisse's POV I could not believe that Quinten had found his mate. This was not supposed to happen. I was supposed to be the girl that made Quinten change his ways. I was supposed to be the one on his arm and in his bed. Instead, this skank Crystal was by his side. Good thing I got Crystal to come with us this evening. Getting Crystal alone tonight was going to be simple, and then I was going to inject her with this serum that dulled all her senses and bring her to Zander. Once Zander had Crystal he would use her to gain the upper hand in this fight he had going with his family. I was only in this for the power. I wanted to be queen and now I could be. As we sat in Crystal's suite we played stupid slumber party games, drank lots of alcohol, and watched movies. Everyone had passed out except for me and Crystal. We were painting our toenails and talking quietly. Crystal's phone went off, I watched as she stepped out onto the balcony, and answered the phone. I quickly went to my bag, grabbed the syringe, and quietly stepped out onto the balcony. Crystal was gazing up at the stars talking to Quinten when I injected her with the serum. Crystal passed out quickly; I grabbed Crystal before she even started falling, and I crushed her cellphone in my hands, put Crystal over my shoulder, and jumped off the balcony. I carried Crystal to the airport, onto a private jet, and lay her down on a sofa. I tied Crystal’s hands behind her back and her feet together. I then took a seat across from Crystal and waited patiently for her to wake up. Crystal woke about two hours into the flight. Crystal sat up quickly and asked, "Why are you doing this Clarisse?" "Why do you think princess? For power. I wanted Quinten for myself. Seeing as I cannot have Quinten I will just have to settle for being queen." I said reaching to grab another syringe off of the table beside me. I injected Cyrstal again before she could respond. Zander was going to be so happy and I expected a reward when I arrived at his hideout in the Appalachian Mountains. I sat back in my seat again and made sure Crystal stayed unconscious the rest of the way there.
