The Helping Friend
In a place in the forest surrounded by many vegetable crops and fruits owned by a rabbit, he was harvesting carrots, apples, and bananas from his garden to serve as his lunch.
"I have a bountiful harvest today; thankfully, I am blessed by the good guardians of nature," the rabbit said.
He continued storing food in his house. As he was walking home, a monkey approached him.
"Come, my friend, let me help you with the fruits you are carrying," the monkey offered.
"Sure, my friend. Thank you so much for arriving," the rabbit said.
The monkey took some of what the rabbit was carrying, and as they walked, they talked about the gathering that would take place in their town next week.
"I heard that a big feast will happen in town next week because of the captain's victory in the recent election. Surely, many will go and attend," the monkey shared.
"Is that so? Let me speak with Captain Lion to offer fruits and vegetables for the celebration," the rabbit said.
"Well, that's great news, friend! The captain will surely be pleased with you," the monkey answered with joy.
In the middle of their conversation, they did not realize they had already arrived at the rabbit's house.
"At last, we've arrived! Now I can finally rest for a bit," the rabbit said.
They placed what they were carrying on the table.
"May I ask for some of your water, Rabbit?" asked the Monkey.
"Of course! Come here, the water pitcher is in the kitchen," the Rabbit replied.
The monkey got a glass and immediately drank water.
"Also, friend monkey, don't go home just yet. Eat lunch here with me because I will cook something delicious," the rabbit invited.
"Thank you very much, my friend, I won't turn that down," the Monkey replied.
The rabbit got some carrots, turned them into porridge, and added moringa (malunggay) leaves.
"Mmmmm, it smells so good, and what you're cooking is surely delicious," praised the Monkey.
When the rabbit finished cooking, he gathered apples and bananas to serve as their dessert.
"Let's go eat!" the rabbit happily told the monkey.
They ate a delicious lunch and were completely full—especially the Monkey, who ate plenty of bananas.
