The Breach
Sienna’s POV
The alarm is deafening. It was sharp, relentless and blinding red lights flash across the walls, turning everything into chaos. My heart slams against my ribs. “A breach?” I repeat, my voice barely steady.
Marcus is already moving, speaking rapidly into his radio. “All units to the east wing. Lock it down. Now.”
Footsteps thunder through the halls. Armed guards rush past us, their faces tight, and focused. This isn’t a drill. This is real.
I turn to Dominic. “What’s happening?”
But he’s not looking at me anymore. His entire presence has shifted…colder, sharper, and it was like something inside him just snapped into place.
“Stay here,” he says.
“No.” The word leaves my mouth instantly and his gaze cuts back to mine. “Sienna….”
“I am not standing here while your house gets attacked!” My voice shakes, but I don’t back down. “You said this is about me, right? Then I deserve to know what’s happening!”
A beat followed and tension stretches between us and then…another loud crash echoes through the mansion. Closer this time. Gunfire follows.
Dominic curses under his breath, grabbing my wrist. “Fine. You stay with me. Do not let go.”
“I wasn’t planning to,” I mutter, even though my fingers tighten around his instinctively.
We move fast down the hallway, turning corners sharply as the sound of chaos grows louder. My heels slip slightly against the polished floor, but Dominic doesn’t slow down.
The east wing comes into view…and it looks like a war zone.
One of the large glass panels has been shattered. Cold night air rushes in through the opening and two guards are down on the floor, unmoving.
My breath catches. “Oh my God…”
More gunfire erupts outside. “Snipers,” Marcus’s voice crackles through the radio. “They’re positioned beyond the gate.”
Dominic’s grip tightens on my hand. “They’re not trying to get in,” I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Then understanding hits me all at once. “They’re trying to draw you out.”
Dominic doesn’t respond. But his silence says enough.
A bullet suddenly shatters the wall just inches from us. I gasp, flinching hard as dust scatters across the floor. “Get down!” Dominic pulls me sharply, dragging me behind a marble column as another shot rings out.
My heart is racing too fast and my chest feels too tight. “This is insane,” I whisper.
His arm comes around me, holding me firmly against him, but not gentle, and not soft, just… certain. “Stay behind me.”
Another round of gunfire explodes outside and guards return fire, their shouts echoing through the halls and then…
Everything goes quiet. Too quiet, it was the kind of silence that doesn’t mean safety. It means something worse is coming. Dominic’s body goes completely still.
“What is it?” I ask, my voice trembling.
He doesn’t answer. Marcus’s voice comes through again, sharper this time.
“Sir… we have movement inside the perimeter.”
“That’s not possible,” I whisper.
The gates. The guards. The walls… “No one gets inside,” I add, more to myself than anyone else.
Dominic slowly lifts his head, his expression turning darker with every second.
“Yes,” he says quietly. “They do… if someone lets them in.”
A cold chill runs down my spine. But before I can respond….A slow clap echoes from the broken entrance and my heart stops. We both turn.
And a figure steps out of the shadows, completely calm… like he belongs here.
Tall, relaxed and smiling. And when his eyes land on me… Recognition slams into me like a punch.
“Kai…” My voice comes out as a breath.
His smile widens. “Miss me, Sienna?”
Everything inside me goes cold, because the way he’s looking at me….It’s not just familiarity. It’s possession. And the worst part was that he didn't look surprised to see me here.
He looks… satisfied.
