Caring For Her

I wake up with a terrible headache. My head is pounding. It's like someone is hitting me with a hammer. There are tablets with a note on the side table.

"Eat them and come down for the breakfast I'm waiting for you" I took the tablet brushed my teeth and go downstairs. Alex is already seated at the table but he hasn't started breakfast. Food is placed Infront of him but he isn't eating.

"Morning" I said getting his attention.

"Good morning to you too How did you sleep" He asked with worry i know what he was referring to but i don't want to talk about it right now.

"It was okay" He must have gotten the hint because he did not ask anything about last night.

"Amara i want to apologize for what i called you earlier I don't mean it My anger got the best of me. I apologize"

"It's okay but don't call me names again i can bear anything but not disrespect i am not going to forgive you if you do this again."

"I know I know i am sorry i won't ever do this again"

"It's okay" He smiled.

We eat our breakfast in silence. I have to go see a house today. Knowing Alex if i told him he won't let me go. I have to sneak out somehow.

"Aren't you going to the office?"

"No and neither are you i want to spend the day with you"

"Aren't you skipping office way too much?"

"I'm the boss i can do whatever i want" He said cockily.

I know why he has a taken a leave. He wants to make sure I'm ok. Truth is I'm not okay. Betrayal hurt. I never expected Ben to be like this. He wanted to r**e me. Never in a million years i would have guessed Ben would turn out like this.

There is a question roaming in my mind for sometimes now. I am conflicted whether should i ask him or not.

"Ask whatever is on your mind" He must have felt it.

"I have been working at the publishing house for 2 months but i didn't see you once. Suddenly you came back and decided you want to stay. I know you got other business which requires your attention. You don't even need to be here but still you are"

"You still haven't understood"

I shook my head.

"I'm here for you the minute i came to know you are working here i decided I'm going to stay"

"So you were planning to woo me"

He started laughing.

"I don't need to woo you I know you are already mine"

I can't believe he did this for me. Alex has done so much for me. First he let me stay in his house. Now he saved me from my so called friend Ben.

"Is Ben going to be at the office" I'm scared to face him again.

"No he is not. He is in jail and I'm planning to keep him there" This has calmed me down. If he is there that means he can't hurt me. I must have spoken it out loud because Alex replied.

"No one is going to hurt you on my watch"

"Do you want to cook something together?" I'm a terrible chef but it is worth a try.

Instead of baking powder i accidently put washing powder in the flour.

"Who puts washing powder in the flour"

"Who puts washing powder in the kitchen cabinet" We burst out laughing. Giving up we ordered a takeout. Cooking is not for us.
