The Punishment

I reach the office way earlier than i usual go today don't want to give Alex a reason to call me out. He has been here a day and has already gotten on my nerves.

I knocked on his door and entered.

"Sir I'm here"

"Great now i want you to arrange the files in the archive room in alphabetical order" i nodded my head and left his office to go the archive room.

Who even still have files? I thought they are all stored in the computer now. I entered the room and my eyes nearly popped out of my eye socket. I thought there are going to be 10-20 files but there are literally thousands of files scattered throughout the room. Gosh it's going to take an eternity to arrange all of this properly.

By the time i am done it feels like I'm going to pass out any minute. My limbs are aching. It took me 4 hours to complete the task. Who knew arranging files could be this exhausting? My fingers hurt so bad. I go to Alex's office to let him know I'm done.

"Took you long enough to do it"

"Yes" i replied biting my tongue because i know otherwise i will say something shitty to him which is going to end up costing me my job.

"Anything else you like me to do... My Majesty ?" I whispered the last part.

"No you can go and have lunch"

Well that's pretty generous of him to allow me to do my lunch. At least he is not planning on letting me starve to death. That's assuring. When i get back i find him standing in my office.

"You are late" He said. Doesn't he know eating takes time?

"I guess i lost track of time while eating my lunch" He nodded his head. He still has not told me why he is here.

"Do you need something?" Looks like he is not going to say what he needs on his own so i ask him.

"Oh yes can you go to the third floor and bring Ben the IT guy i am having some trouble with my computer"

"Yeah sure" I hope he is not messing with me and there indeed exists some Ben on third floor. Finally i find Ben and convey Alex's message to him.

I am sitting in my cabin when Ben came in.

"Boss asked me to set up your computer too so he can reach you easily so can i?"

"Yeah sure" I gave him space to do his job. Ben doesn't look like a very talkative person. Just my kind of person. I don't need to make a fake conversation to fill up the silence.

"Here you go all done" Just as he say this i heard a ping on the computer. I looked at him questionably.

"That means boss is calling you"

i entered his office and stand Infront of him.

"Nothing i was just checking if Ben set up the system correctly and seeing you here means he did you can go "

I get back in my cabin. This Alex isn't the sweet boy i have grown up with. That boy was nice and caring and this person Infront of me is just cruel. He isn't acknowledging the past between us. Old Alex would have never made me suffer. He is pretending not to know me. Okay then two can play this game. I'm going to beat him at his own game.If he is pretending there was never anything between us once so can i.

I got back home to see 3 miss calls from my birth giver. What does she wants? She never cared about me throughout my life so why is she calling me now. I deleted the voicemail without even hearing it.
