ALWAYS IN THE WAY

★★(Few years Later)★★

A man was thrown out of a*****e and the glass shattered as he fell on the ground. He groaned and struggled to stand.

‘You are always in our way. And we don’t know anything about you, who the hell are you? Who are you working for?’, he asked as he cleaned the blood oozing from his ear and fixed his gaze on the figure that still stood inside the store. The figure stood there and didn’t utter a word. Instead he checked his watch and turned his back and in a twinkle of an eye he was no where to be seen.

The injured man cursed under his breathe and gritted his teeth. He reluctantly took his phone and dialed a number.

‘He was here again. I wonder how long we can keep this from him’, the man said and the other receiver on the phone said nothing.

‘What more can we do?’, the man asked after few seconds of silence on both side. Then a ruffle was heard on the phone after which a voice spoke up.

‘Report back to base. We must find this unknown person. How can he be so strong against us?, I suspect that he’s an enhanced too’, the voice said and the man gulped.

‘If he is, do you think he’s with the opposition?’, the man asked and again the voice said nothing. After a few seconds, the call was hung up from the other side.

‘Damnnit!’, he cursed as he put back his phone. ‘I nearly got him. But he’s so strong’, the man murmured as he hurriedly walked way from the scene.

(At a hospital)

‘How are you feeling?’, a woman asked a patient who was on bed with a smile and he smiled back.

‘I’m better’, he replied and the woman caressed his head and checked his temperature and the drip that was passing unto him.

‘When you finish this dose, you should be discharged. And you will be able to go home and see Wicky’, she said and the boy smiled broadly.

‘I missed Wicky so much’, he murmured and she smiled again.

‘Yeah. And I’m sure he missed you as well. It’s because we don’t allow pet here that is why Dad hasn’t been able to bring him. Do you understand?’, she explained and the boy nodded.

‘’Why don’t you allow pets?”, the boy asked curiously and she sighed.

“It’s just laid down rules and besides. Pets can be pretty rough when they see their owner in pain”, she said and the boy nodded again. Then a knock was heard on the door.

‘Who is there?’, she asked and the door opened, then a guy came in with a parcel and he wore a mask.

“Happy birthday to you!”, the guy shouted and roared playfully. And the woman bursted into laughter.

“Thank you, Arthur, I Know you are behind that mask”, she said and the guy removed the mask to reveal a handsome blonde guy with a oval shaped jaw line.

“Yeah. It’s me Mum”, Arthur said with a smile and wrapped her in an embrace.

“where is your brother?”, she asked and Arthur’s expression changed.

“He said he’s busy with some tests. I had to sneak out of school as usual to do this”, he replied.

‘I’ve told you many times not to sneak out of school because you wanna surprise me”, She scolded him and the boy on bed laughed.

‘Hey man, are you mocking me?”, Arthur asked with a make-up serious face and the boy laughed more harder.

“You guys are cute. You are the best mother and son ever”, the boy exclaimed and both of them chuckled but Scily’s heart became heavy at that moment and she smiled nervously.

★★(At Home)★★

The family were ready to eat supper as they are now on the dining table. Scily and her two sons. There was a huge cake in the middle of the table and a knife stuck on it.

As they were about to start eating, a knock was heard on the door and the first person to open it was Arthur. And a girl was seen and he became confused.

“Sorry, were you invited here?”, he asked and she nodded and a throat been cleared was heard from the table. Arthur looked back and saw Scily looking at her second son while trying hard to hold her smile.

‘I invited her over”, the guy said and Scily smiled.

“She’s a friend right, Dan?’, she whispered and Dan just smiled. The girl entered and she sat on the table. Arthur came back to his seat and before he could sit down, another knock was heard and he quickly went to open it and few people came in singing and drumming.

“Yes!”, Arthur exclaimed and hugged a guy in the little crowd. “Thank you, Klein”, he said and the guy patted him.

“Anything for my little bro”, Klein said and Arthur frowned then both started struggling playfully.

‘Oh boys. Don’t start again. Dan go and separate those guys for me, will you?. Don’t let them ruin my day”, she said and the people bursted into laughter while Dan just smiled and shook his head pitifully.

“He’s so noisy and playful. How could he be my big brother?”, Dan thought before smearing the cake on both of them and all started the merry.

Arthur and Dan were walking down the walkway in the school and there were murmurs here and there as they walked by.

“What do you think they could be murmuring about?”, Dan asked without looking at Arthur.

“What could it be asides who you invited to mum’s birthday party last night?”, Arthur replied turning his full face on Dan who looked away.

“She’s just a normal gurl like other girls. Because she’s mayor’s daughter doesn’t justify anything”, Dan explained and Arthur raised his eyebrow.

“Who said it meant something?”, Arthur said as he opened a door and Dan threw him a finger in the middle as both parted ways to individuals class.

Arthur walked into the class and spotted Klein on his seat who waved at him.

“Hey man”, Klein said and shook hands with Arthur.

“Why are there murmurs everywhere, Klein?”, Arthur asked as he sat and put his bag down.

“Oh c’mon. I saw the mayor’s daughter at your mum’s party last night. And I told just…..”,

“Juan”, Arthur completed the statement with Klein.

“That girl’s got a big mouth you know”, Klein said casually and sighed.

“I gerrit. Because you like her doesn’t mean you have to tell her everything”, Arthur whispered and Klein frowned and gave him a friendly jab. The teacher came In and the class went silent and Klein discovered his elbow was aching him.

“So, class. We discussed some vital point on this topic the last time we met. Who can remind me?”, he asked and a flurry of hands went up and he called upon a girl.

“It’s the macrocyclic element that is an organic compound which have a closed ring of about 12 atoms”, she explained and the teacher nodded then she looked back towards Arthur with a sly gaze but he pretended as if he didn’t see her.

“Alright, with that being said. We will move on to today’s topic”, and he removed his glasses.
