The Stranger
I'm the one who stands alone while darkness consumes me. My only one and true desire is to find the love everyone has with their fairytale, a love of a lifetime. The kind of true love mom and dad had. But, here I am stuck in a deserted in a depressed wasteland while people have their ones. Where's my one and only? The voices taunt my head. What makes you worthy? If your so treasured, where is everyone in your life? If your loved, why did you parents die? That's because you worthless!!!
I awoke unable to breathe. Panting for air as if the dream had kept pushing me under a raging sea. Tears running down my face, silently hit the pillow wrapped in my arms. I look to my alarm which read 5:30 am. I couldn't take the dreams any long. I was going mad by this feeling of despair and loneliness. And no one could ever find out about this or I'd got back to Wooden Haven for another weekend. Chills ran down my spine just thinking about it. The horrors that lay in that therapy camp. I decided to go on my run to help clear my mind. I am usually run with my bestfriend Autumn, but she had to work overtime and must still be sleeping. I got my running shirt, shorts, and shoes on before I left my room. Slowly, I crept down the stairs. If my Aunt Mary caught me, she would question my reasons for going for a run this early. She is like my mother was, I can't hide anything from her. I reached the front door and carefully went out it into the crisp January morning air. I put my earbuds in and started to run when I got out of the porch. My mind was going a hundred miles an hour. Tonight was the biggest night of my life, my team and I made it to the final round before the state championship. I had to make it count since it was my senior year. My scholarship depends on this game. As I was halfway done with my run, something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. I look across the street to see someone running towards me yelling. I took my earbuds out when I realized who it was. My cousin, Dakota, dressed in a Jersey and basketball shorts was running up to me." Raley, why are you out here this early", he said as he came to a halt." I could ask you the same thing there, punk"." Well, you have to be when your cousin is the prettiest girl in town and wants to run by herself. Who knows which boy will jump on the opportunity to hangout with her". I punched his shoulder at those words. The truth was I could never compare to Maria Sands. She was all the boys at school talked about." Ow, I'm starting to think you're actually a boy by how hard you hit", he said faking pain from the punch." Well you deserve it. You can't talk like that you'll get a hit put out on me", I said jokingly." Oh, yeah. I doubt they will do anything to affect you with the invincible Dakota", he said as he put his now fisted hands on his hips. I laughed at his sarcastic comment. Let's just say, he may be a rough and tough on the outside but underneath that he is a giant little kid." Well come on Captain Courageous. We've got a long ways to go in 25 minutes"." Wait, not yet"." Why", I asked questionable. He started to rub the back of his neck nervously." Well, um. I kinda didn't actually come here to meet you"." Oh, did you finally accept a date with Samantha"." What no. Wait how'd you-? Ugh, mom", putting his hand to his face." So then who?", I questioned." Hey, captain. There you are. I thought we were meeting in front of Cedar Lane though". An unfamiliar voice said right behind me. I turned around sharply to see who it was and ended knocking into to the person. I started to fall when a pair of the stranger's arms encircled me. I rose my head quickly to look at them. Who was this?
