Chapter 111

404 Words
“Let’s not lose hope, Mercedes. We have to believe in our dreams and also from that person above all of us.” Roman said, as they walked to the now growing orchard. Little did they know that their long lasting wish would be granted already. The two worked hard, and the farm became bigger and bigger. The orchard began to prosper little by little, and the trees are getting stronger, but still does not bear any fruit. One time, Mercedes suddenly felt an urge to go out and visit the mango orchard. It felt like someone was pulling her to go there. She did not tell Roman, and left before dusk. "Where are you going, Ms.Mercedes?" the young Cynthia asked, looking at her boss' weird actions. "Uh, I was just going to get some fresh air." Mercedes lied to the girl. "Do you want me to accompany you?" "No, Cynthia. It's okay" Mercedes said and hurriedly left the area. The woman hurriedly went to where the orchard was, avoiding the people. She has this sense of urgency that she did not know about, but her body was telling her to go forward. She shifted her body as soon as she saw Austin going in her direction. She hurriedly hid in the bushes, like a small kid hiding from parents. A few minutes passed and Austin was not around already, she went back on her tracks and hurried towards the orchard. She was catching her breath when she reached the area. Luckily, there was no one around that time as everyone went home already. She walked past the dark pathway, with only the sound of nocturnal animals. The force was getting stronger and stronger as she approached the middle part of the orchard. The gentle breeze hit her face as she looked around, but it felt like someone was there. All of a sudden, the sound of buzzing was heard all over the place, in high frequency, and she covered her ears instantly. The buzzing sound went away, and she was surprised by what she saw next. There were small lights fluttering around her, and little by it lit up the area. She extended her hand and reached out for the light, and it perched on her finger. “Oh my goodness, fireflies?” She said, delighted. The whole place was not illuminated by thousands of fireflies, as if they were celebrating her arrival.
