"Because he is not one of us? Is this the reason why?"
"No, not that. I am just afraid of the rejection, and also a lot of things came into my mind."
"Like?"
I paused for a moment. I tried to recall everything, starting from the moment I met Sun. Why am I afraid of telling my feelings for him? Is it really because of rejection or there is something deeper meaning to it?
“Don’t think about it Ray. Your face says it all.” Nica said, smiling as she began to take care of Sun’s wounds. I just stood there watching as she continued tending his needs.
An hour easily went by, and before I knew it too, everything was done. Nica stood up and stretched her body after the successful minor operation. I am really amazed how talented she is. Suddenly, the door opened and we were both shocked by what happened. We thought it was someone else, but it was just Miko.
“Don’t you know how to knock?” Nica said, glaring at Miko.
“Oh, you’re here. I’m sorry, I am just in a rush thinking about Sun’s situation.” Miko answered, bowing multiple times. For some reason, when it comes to Nica, he always acts like this. I asked him one time if he likes Nica, but he denied it. Well, who knows. I understand if there are things left unspoken than telling someone.
“So you know about it too?” She asked.
Miko looked at me, surprised. I just smiled and gave him a nod.
“Uhh, yes. So you found out about it? What’s with that expression? Are you not shocked or anything?” Miko asked.
“Yes, when we were in the car. Also, I’m not afraid or anything, but seeing someone like this upclose was surprising.” Nica said.
“Well, still, thank you for taking care of Sun. You don’t know how important he is to…. Oops.” Miko covered his mouth and looked at me. I just gave him a smile, but I was holding myself back. I am already drained of energy.
“I know already. So don’t worry, since the two of you are my good friends too.” She said, smiling.
“Thank you.” I said,
“I think I need to go now, just call me when you still need anything.” Nica said, and I escorted her to the elevator. I called one of our drivers to pick her up and bring her back to her place.
“Thank you so much Nica, for everything you have done to me so far.” I said,
“Of course, Ray. You are one of my friends, so don’t think about it.” She said and hugged me. After that, she waved goodbye and left. I went back to the room, and Miko was sitting on the chair, drinking a cup of coffee.
“I think you should get changed first.” I said, looking at the status of my friend. Like me, the rainwater has already dried up and we were a mess.
“You should too. You go ahead first, and then I will follow.” Miko said, pointing at my restroom.
