Chapter 31

“Where are you from Mr. De Luna?” Miko asked, waiting at the office.

A lot of things happened to me today, and I totally forgot about doing my work. I am pretty sure that he is really annoyed looking at his expression.

“Why? There you go again, mother. Haha. I am already a grown up so I can go wherever I want.” I answered.

“Stupid Ray. There you go again.”

“Fine, fine. I’m sorry. I went to the mango orchard to loosen up a bit.”

“Why? Did something happen?” He asked.

I suddenly remembered the screaming Pine earlier. I have to make sure to make distance from here, because it will be troublesome if she finds out where I am. I headed to my table and checked on the papers.

“Yes, and it really ruined my mood. I thought everything was better, but because of some memories from the past, it got messy again.” I sighed.

“Don’t tell me it’s your psycho ex-girlfriend.”

“You’re right. I don’t know where he got my number. I am pretty sure that I reminded everyone not to give my personal number to her.” I said.

“Well, I have a hunch who might have sold your information to your crazy ex.”

I laughed. “Well, you don’t need to tell me. I am pretty sure it is one of my siblings.”

Picking up a pen, I started signing the important documents while Miko was just staring at me.

“What is it?” I asked.

He sat down on the chair beside my table. “Are you okay? How are you feeling now?”

“Thanks to our workers, I am feeling better now. I had fun talking with them.”

“What? There you go again. Not inviting me to have some fun.” He pouted.

Seeing his face, I failed to hold my laughter. “Cut it out, Miko. You look stupid with that face. Haha.”

“There you go again. Am I really that funny? Why do they like it when I look like this?” HE said, and began making faces.

Laughter exploded again in the office, and the other workers noticed. Everyone looked at us.

“Sorry about that everyone, please continue your work.” I said.

“Yes Sir!” The office staff answered.

After a few minutes, everything continued with their work. Miko took out the finished documents and handed them to the courier waiting outside.

“So what did Pine tell you again?” He asked, while fixing the other papers.

“You know it already. She threatened me again.” I sighed.

“The nerve of that crazy ex-girlfriend of yours. After what she did, she still thinks that you are still into her. Did you tell Aunt already?” Miko said, referring to Pine’s mother.

“I did not, and I have no plans. I am pretty annoyed with the situation already, and I don’t want to be involved with them again.” I said.

“You are right about that, let’s just hope that your ex-girlfriend will not find out where you are.”

“I hope so. Let’s not talk about that. Hand me the reports now.” I said, and we continued on working.

After all the staff left, Miko and I decided to head back to the house to rest a little bit. Cynthia told us that dinner will be served a bit late today. The exhaustion from the start of the day hit my body. I can feel my body ache already because of what happened.

I looked at my watch and it’s five forty five in the afternoon. It was almost evening, and the sun was already low. I opened the door to my room, expecting him to be around, but he was not still there.

I felt a bit of disappointment that he was not there. Well, he might be somewhere and might pop out later on. I laid down on the bed and looked at the ceiling. I suddenly remembered the story that Sierra told me earlier. It would be nice if I could see a sea of fireflies too. When I was a kid, I had a chance to see them personally at my grandparents resthouse. After that, I never had the opportunity to do so.

Still thinking about the fireflies, I imagined them floating inside my room. I slowly raised my hands towards the ceiling when all of a sudden, a familiar face appeared.

“Boo!” Sun said, smiling.

“There you are! I was looking for you all day.” I said, rolling on the other side of the bed and stood up.

“Why? Did something happen?” Sun asked, his face worried.

“Well, a lot of things did happen. But don’t worry, it’s not that bad. It’s a good thing actually.” I said. I don’t know but the excitement inside me suddenly rose up just talking with Sun.

“Well, you can share if you want.” Sun said, smiling sitting beside me.

I suddenly felt my heart beating faster as soon as the cool aura coming from him hit my skin. All of things that I could see from him, it was his eyes that caught my attention the most. It looked so calm, inviting.

“O-of course. I was hoping that you can go with me next time. I went to a really wonderful place earlier.” I said.

"Really? Where? You know what I felt like I was just trapped in a dark space and I wanted to go around. I heard before that travelling sounds fun!" He said.

I was surprised by the burst of excitement from him. I don't know but his feelings were resonating towards me. He looked so happy, and it made me feel better too.

"It's a surprise."

"No fair. Come on, tell me!" Sun said, pouting. He is making that cute puppy face again. My heartbeat became faster than usual again. It felt like it was about to explode. Placing my finger on my chest, I can feel it banging loudly. Sun noticed that my face was getting redder than usual.

"Are you hurt somewhere? You were flushing all of a sudden." He asked.

"Y-yes, I am." I stuttered.

My eyes almost fell on what he did next. He moved closer to me and moved his head towards my chest. For a second, I felt him touch my skin which is unusual. Panicking, I stood up hurriedly and moved to the couch.

"W-what are you doing?"

"Checking if you are okay." He smiled.

"Why? I am okay, don't worry Sun." I said, forcing a smile so that he wouldn't notice. My heartbeat is still beating faster.

"Eh, but I saw you touching your chest earlier."

"U-uh, about that, I'm really okay." I said and ran towards the bathroom.

What is this feeling? Why did I suddenly get nervous about what he did? I looked at the mirror and my face was really red, as well as my ears. I reached out for my chest and I could feel my heart banging loudly.

What am I feeling right now?

Calm down, Ray. What's wrong with you? Why are you feeling flustered with his actions? Mysterious as it is, why do I feel like this with Sun?
