Chapter 37

“Mr. Hernandez?” “Yes, and he is really a kind person. I don’t know the full details why they sold this place to me, but I guess it’s some sort of family issue.” I heard no response from Sun, and when I looked at him, he was just staring in space. He stayed like that for a minute. “Sun, are you okay?” “The name sounds familiar.” “Which one? Mr. Hernandez?” I asked. “Yes, I think I heard that name somewhere, but I can’t remember clearly.” Sun said and shook his head. “Maybe you heard them from the employees talking. You mentioned that you were usually around the mango orchard before we met.” “I guess you are right, Ray. We should rest already. It’s getting late, and you still have a lot of things tomorrow. I don’t want to take the time to rest.” He said. “Thank you, Sun. I know it sounds stupid, but please do take some rest as well.” I smiled. Sun nodded and smiled too in response. I closed my eyes and the warm calming sensation covered my whole body. Sun was humming a tune until I fell asleep completely. That night, I had the same dream before. I was again at the park, and people avoided me. I tried to be friends with them, but they kept on running away from me. Until one kid approached me. Trying to remember what his name was, the scene changed and it became pitch black. Fear crept into my whole body, and the voice of the kid resonated in my head. I ran from the endless darkness, not knowing where to go. “You promised to meet with me again, right?” That sentence kept repeating and repeating until it became creepy for me to take. The voice became distorted like a radio channel that lost reception. I tried to scream for help but no one came to rescue. No voice was coming out of my mouth. Slowly, the darkness was eating my very existence. “Someone, please help me.” I gasped, catching my breath. I was almost swallowed by the darkness when I suddenly felt a sharp pain coming from my arms. The scene vanished and when I opened my eyes, it was my friend. “Holy Moly Ray, are you having a nightmare? You were sweating buckets. Look at yourself.” He said, worried. I slowly sat down from my bed and did what he told me to do. My friend was right, I was covered with sweat and I can feel my body cold. “Hey, Ray? Snap out of it or I’m gonna kick your butt.” He warned. I know my friend was worried about me, that's why he was just saying that. “Okay, okay. Don’t worry, I am fine. I just had a very weird dream.” I said. “About what?” Miko asked, and went to my closet to get a clean towel. He threw it to me, then he headed to the table to get a glass of water. Wiping my body from the sweat, I answered. “Remember, the kid that I met when I was younger. The one that I told you that I promised to meet again.” “Here, drink this first. Then tell me what happened to your dream. You really look like a mess now.” I followed what he said because if I did not, he would scold me again. Miko is such a mother figure. After cleaning myself and changing, I sat down on the bed. Miko, on the other hand, asked one of the staff to bring food in the room instead of us going to the kitchen. “So what happened?” Miko asked. “Remember that I promised that kid that I will meet with him again. The scene at the park kept on repeating in my dreams, and it became creepy at the end. The voice kept on telling me about my promise.” “Then you should meet with him already. Do you know his whereabouts?” Miko asked. “I don’t know. I can’t even remember his name. But during that time, I can recall that he gave me his nametag, but I don’t know where I hid it. It might be somewhere in Father’s house, and I don’t want to go back there.” I said. “Well, that’s really a problem. It seems that memories from your past keep on getting back at you when you decided to start a new life. First, Pine and now this weird dream that you were telling me.” Miko sighed. Miko was right. Ever since I decided to escape my life under my father’s control, everything came haunting me again. I already made up my mind and nothing can stop me. All I need to do is focus on things that I want, of course helping Sun. Miko and I kept on talking when someone knocked on the door. “It’s open. Please come in.” A young girl carrying a tray entered the room. Next to her was Cynthia doing the same. Seeing that the girl was struggling, Miko and I hurried to the two of them and carried the tray instead. “Thank you so much, Cynthia.” I said. “It’s okay, Sir. I heard from one of our staff that you are not feeling well. Please drink the ginger tea that I prepared. It will calm you down.” She said, “Thank you, Cynthia. Don’t wait for us to finish. Miko and I will carry this to the kitchen once we are done. You can return back to what you are doing.” I smiled. “Get well soon, Sir.” Cynthia said. The two bowed their heads and left the room. After the two left, we began to eat the food. Ofcourse, everything was delicious, as well as the ginger tea. It was my first time having it, and Cynthia was right, it was calming. “I guess you should rest in your room first. I’ll handle some of the external affairs first, then I will report it to you later.” Miko said. “Thank you. By the way, have you set an appointment with Ms. Suarez already? We will go back to the city after two weeks to meet her.” “Yes, I did already. Her secretary informed me that Ms. Suarez agreed with the schedule. Oh, by the way, is Sun here?” I totally forgot about Sun. I looked at the clock and it was already eight in the morning.
