Chapter 12

Ray’s POV

“Where could he be?” I was looking for Austin so that he could help me look around the farm. So far, aside from Cynthia, he is the person that I can fully trust here on the farm. I told Miko to go ahead in the office and start with the paperwork and do some research on the materials.

I am still amazed by the surroundings, and it is really relaxing. This is really different from my life in the city, especially since I am away from my father already. Earlier, when I checked my phone I received a message from his secretary that he will be sending the documents for me to sign. Those were the papers to remove my inheritance from the family. I had expected this ever since we talked about it. 

I arrived at the chicken coop in no time. As soon as I entered, an unusual smell filled my nose. I felt nauseated after smelling the poo of the chickens. I can hear their clucking and the chirping of the chicks. 

“Austin?” I called out and looked for him. I need to keep my face straight even if I am already having a hard time breathing because of the scent of the chicken coop.

“Sir, what are you doing here?” He asked. 

“About that, are you busy? I want you to help me with something.” I said. 

“Let’s get out of here first, it looks like you are already having a hard time.” Austin said.

After removing the gloves, we left the chicken coop. Fresh air welcomed my nose again.

“I’m so sorry about that, I am still not used to this.” I said and smiled awkwardly.

“That’s understandable, Sir. We know that you are new to this, so that’s why we will do our best to help you here on the farm.”

Austin was being considerate about me. I don’t know but it felt nice because this was the first time I heard words like this. Usually, my employees are afraid to talk with me because of the difference in our status.

“Thank you, Austin. I am still adjusting here so please help me out.” 

“So what do you want to know Sir?” 

“Ahh, before that, do you know someone named Sun?” I asked. 

I noticed his expression after hearing that name. He did not look at me and I can see that he was nervous all of a sudden.

“I don’t know anyone named like that Sir. Also, there is no person named Sun here in this town. Most of us know each other, and I have never encountered such a person.” He said. 

His voice was a bit shaky when he was explaining to me. Is he telling the truth?

"Oh, okay. I was just curious because I heard it somewhere." I said.
